Proof positive that Harry is just like any other soldier, and fits in well. I think he is doing a great job and serves Great Britain well. The fact that he has wanted to serve with his fellow soldiers in combat, no matter where, tells us that he values his job and his service and less so his rank in the aristocracy.

Edited to add , Prince Charles is on the rack along with Harry now for having a lifelong friend called "Sooty" , its his nickname and has been for decades , it so happens the gentleman is of colour , now the media want Charles to..what exactly ?

Dude. Who did you have to b%*# to get a post like that? A Scots enters the USN and gets stationed in Scotland. Jeez. I got to pick three bases. I picked Honolulu, San Diego and New London. They gave me Charleston.

Cool, man. I once met VP Nelson Rockafeller in Chas. Though I met him before that when I was eight years old. He remembered me. At least the meeting. And shook Reagan's hand at the Pentagon once.

Believe this or not , ive n reason to lie , i shook hands with Ronnie and also Bobby Kennedy the day of the shooting.
Our family were living in california and i think its the one thing that most prompted my parents to return home.

Edited to add ..bear in mind i was just a kid , my Dad worked at Beale AFB , we got to meet him coming off his flight that day , i cant remember the airport or if it was the base , the old man got us all there anyway , and i shook the mans hand , he ruffled my brothers hair..and was dead by morning.
I remember the shock throughout the house and my Mom crying...and lots of free smoked almonds on the pan am flight to london..wow

What were Brits doing at Beale AFB? When that base was at its prime, it was a secure location as that was where the spookies were haunting. Habu was there along with the the teeter totter. I remember lots of interesting stuff there, the old POW camp, the old PX, the control tower etc.

Same thing i was doing at site 1 Nuke sub base.Doing a job.Its like i was saying earlier , look at any front line or unique situation militarily , you wont have far to look for a British peep.

I hazard a guess we were there during what would have been the bases prime. The big thing then was the SR-71 which could be seen in the skies daily. We lived on N.Beale rd in Marysville , just off the base really.

Indeed those were the good days there, that place has gone down hill since then. Marysville is now a real has been town, rather run down and a shell of it's former self. Of course several years ago one of the levees there was breached and the town flooded and it never really recovered. The AFB is still there, and they fly the U2 and I think they do touch and goes on the C5 there from Mather.

Thats a shame , it was a great place to be if your a kid , horses and go carts , mini bikes , punt pass and kick , little league , scouts , they kept us busy...not to mention swimming pools.
We left there Dec 70 , so what im remembering was the latter part of the 60s.

Heres a laugh for you , my Dad took myself and my brother to San Francisco one week , he had business there and turned us loose with a few bucks , instructions not to leave the area of the hotel.Mission st rings a bell.
So we bummed around , couple of little Scottish kids in San Francisco , and i thought id do whats normal in Scotland and get my Pa the evening paper on the way back , id seen a guy selling papers in the street.

I guess i knew right away the guy was looking at me kinda weird..amazed really....id bought the usual crappy trinkets , peace signs and snoopy sweatshirt.
Never thought much about it until i handed my Dad the paper..he looked at me and said..Where did you get this ?
Dunno if he threw it away but i do know he didnt sit down and read it..hahah
I didnt know what a Black Panther was you see.Sure it was a coloured dude selling the paper ..but how was i to know.
