An explanation which 1) explains my decision to become an English/psych major and 2) why maths give me a rash. Personally, I think that the universe is infinite in dimension--or, if it exists in limited space, that it exists in so much space as to render that limitation moot--but finite in time. I believe that everything physical eventually comes to an end and that it will eventually will be replaced by something new. On the other hand, I also believe that there might be alternate universes. Then again, I have nothing concrete to support my beliefs, so who knows?
The iritation I feel when the scientific community makes these kinds of statements (about black holes and the Big Bang) is similar to the iritation I feel about the switch to these new fluorescent bulbs. I don't like to be led like a horse... I'd rather look at the evidence, pros and cons, and make up my own mind rather than being force-fed things and told to accept them without debate.
