This is the problem with this site and the internet in general. Only the anonymity of the internet can enable you to post something so utterly ridiculous as this thread. Keep clownin around bozo!
redirect, refocus. The anonymity of the internet is the problem. ooookk. Yeah I'll keep clownin' and you keep avoiding the issues. Oh great credentialed one, please share some of your great wisdom with us all. Tell us how the whole system is perfectly intact and there is nothing to be concerned about. Hell with the facts, let's just listen to your brilliance. Tell us Sparky...tell us. <hiccup>
The way I see it, you should own some dirt..hopefully an acre per person. You should also know how to garden and can veggies. You need these skills: Shoot , clean and prepare wild game plant, feed and harvest your own meals build and maintain a shelter and keep it warm the ability to defend youself know what time of month and season it is , by the stars, not some tv station Call me Mr Paranoid, but I'll never be in a soup kitchen line, I promise you that
Jack, Be careful....that sort of personal responsibility & self-reliance will get you labeld as an extremist here!
Or just keep lots of pets. Lots and lots. That crazy cat lady with 117 cats is better prepared for the coming apocalypse than 99% of the US .
I hate to admit it but this is the one issue I can completely agree with Tom on. I have to ask you De Orc, to re-read your post here and think about it. I believe you proved Tom's point by your own post. IF the money is real, it is OWNED by the people (their own money) and they are free to do so.... Why then shouldn't every single person be able to take all of their money out at the same time, for whatever reason, and bury it in the back yard if they want to?? What's the problem? Just a physical problem? You've proven that the whole system relies on fake money that only exists in computers and the people's own 'supposed' wealth has to stay there for the whole system to function and let people live in (relative) comfort. I'm not saying it's a great idea in the original post, but it does expose the whole thing. BTW, you don't need any paper in return to sell the silver! It IS money. It would have to become the new money and an ounce would probably buy a hell of a lot of goods in trade if it ever came down to it. Why would people accept it you ask!!?? Why do people accept paper currency? You can't eat that either? It's more worthless than the silver. So that's the real question. The answer is because everyone is forced to use it until there's so much printed that people are burning it to stay warm. Like has happened throughout history. The U.S. is not magically exempt from hard math. We are just able to put off the inevitable longer because of our previous status in the world. We spend money (that does not exist) on a larger scale than has ever been attempted/spent in recorded history and it's all based on our historic capital and credit which is slowly becoming exposed. The only reason it's went this far is because we: - have thus far been able to borrow from foreign creditors - are modernized and have computers - have continual elaborate smoke screens in place - a dumbed down population that is determined to continue living comfortable lives, even if it means being willfully or unknowingly nieve towards impending doom. What will happen? I have no idea. Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. Something major will have to change. It's not likely going to be in the best interest of the people. Some will be in shock. Others will not be surprised in the least. And it could happen over-night. The only reason we have not had major inflation yet is because we have been able to borrow so much real wealth from over-seas with the idea that it can actually be paid back. That's greased the gears to this point. Take that away and anything can happen. Not much different than giving an unemployed person a $50k credit card to live on. The retailers don't care. It spends the same. Only difference is, the person isn't allowed to have a printing press to create their future payments (and also pay for future obligations at the same time) out of thin air.
Can I sugest to you that you read the thread from the start? Tom makes no mention of buying metal till post #11 prior to that Clembo brought it up (look at posts #5 & 6) I also say at this point buy silver now before anything happens (reason for this is the currency you use actualy has a percieved value so use it before it is lost) Now I have NOT said that they can not remove there money from banks as you quite rightly point out that is there right(I simply pointed out the obviouse consequence of such actions). What I have said is that if they do it will have a devestating effect on the percieved value of that currency and in reply to Toms post #11, I asked him who would sell him Metal for worthless paper? Perhaps you might care to tell me? You are also quite correct that you dont need the paper to SELL silver but that was never in question, oh and you can eat paper currency LOL it might not be nutrisiouse but you can indeed eat it
