Careful moen this is a family forum. That shower talk about tongue in cheek is going over the line and I am not talking about Johnny Cash here.
The downside, of course, is that every American will be required to give up their liberty so that the frightened Americans can live in absolute safety from the pop-guns. In effect, we have already lost to the terrorists because people are too afraid to be free.
Much of the chest pounding rhetoric in this forum is the result of fear. People are willing to give up everything that makes this country great so they can have some sense of safety real or imagined. It's funny what scared little rabbits do when they think that they are threatened. They run straight for that hole which turns out to be the grave they dug themselves. :hatch:
Run straight for the hole?...come on Moen, you haven't even taken your head out from it! Sorry, couldn't resist... Meanwhile, islamic jihad continues...
Fear, no certainly not fear. Caution yes... Meon, when you were in the Marines did you do your basic training at Paris Island or were you a Hollywood Marine? This could explain alot.

Well, actually didn't choose that route as you know. Many of my relatives, Uncles, cousins, Nephews, are career military folk or were before they retired. Ya know what they call the little 4 years transient soldiers that do their one hitch and get the heck out of dodge? Come on, you know the term. What did they call you little one-hitch wonders? You know the guys that stick around only long enough to pretend they are soldiers during peacetime. Anybody wanna guess the term for these starry-eyed glory scabs? It isn't pretty and may not be appropriate for this forum but it sure tells it like it is. :hail:
Nope. To the real soldiers, the career military men and women, you guys are just M.I.S.E.R.Y.'s I'm sure you know what that means, that is if you were around long enough to figure it out. :goof:
Nope, I'm really not familiar with that acronym. For those who serve 4-6 year initial enlistments I call them Veterans... Butr if you feel the need to go clear text please PM me Ben
Only One Solution to this problem. Begin Deportations... /////////////////////////////////////////// http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6613963.stm MI5 watch 2,000 terror suspects By Frank Gardner BBC security correspondent Links between the fertiliser plotters and the 7 July bombers have brought MI5's work into sharp focus The number of terror suspects being monitored by MI5 in the UK has grown by a quarter in the past six months, the BBC has learned. The security service and police are monitoring about 2,000 individuals who they say are actively involved in supporting al-Qaeda. Some are thought to have direct links with al-Qaeda in Pakistan. The fertiliser bomb plot case has highlighted the links to terrorist training camps in Pakistan.
26 years Tony? Now there is a soldier I can respect. Did you ever hear any terms for the short-timers?
Nothing derogatory. Folks did the time they felt was right for them; when they got out we always congratulated and thanked them, 4, 6, 10, 20 years or more it didn't matter. Of course, those that stay until retirement get a party and an official ceremony (if they so choose). Me, I had two dinners in my honor, one from my unit, one from the First Sergeants Council (Never got to wear the diamond, but they treated me like I did).
Man, that's interesting. I played First Shirt my last year as well in a little MSS. Never went to the Academy but sure prepared a few Art 15s, LOL...
I went to the Symposium (a 1-week version of the academy). I volunteered, but because of my AFSC, wasn't allowed to go to the Academy and get my diamond. One of those chronically, critically short career fields and what it was is better left out of an open forum. Most of the time, I was the back-up shirt, did that for 8 years. The last year, I did it full time.
Things were crazy my last (2002) year, as I had a MEB from 1996 pending and wasn't World Wide qualified but that didn't stop me from going on a Short Tour to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, JTF-SWA in 2000-2001, waivered of course... Go figure, almost get killed in 1995, then get caught up in Stop Loss and somehow hang on for seven more years, one reenlistment, and one promotion, LOL...
