What happened to Cleavon Little?

In my opinion his oscar winning performance in Blazing Saddles put too
much pressure on him to continue at that level of quality. A role like
Bart only comes along once in a lifetime.

I'd like to see him make a cameo in the remake of Blazing Saddles, but
I can understand if he's turned his back on Hollywood.

No one else could deliver a line like:

"No, thank you. Fifteen is my limit on schnitzengruben. "

With the same kind of wry passion. Cheers, Cleavon, wherever you are!

I don't think he will be making a remake of anything...he passed away... ;o(

Did you watch *Blazing Saddles* last night?

I stayed up all by myself to see it one more time.

Did you ever hear the line that was in the screenplay but cut from the
    film?
It's right after the lights go out and Lily says, "It's TWUE...Oh,
    it's Twue!"

"Sorry to disappoint you m'aam but that's my elbow you're sucking on."

I find Mel Brooks's humour to be generally overrated, but that's coming
from the perspective of a jaded younger man who has witnessed the
killing of the genre (by the Zucker brothers, Nielson's later stinkjobs,
and those God-awful "Scary"/"Epic"/"Date"/etc "Movie" movies), which
happened well after this movie was made. The movie has its moments,
    though.

Yes, that's a very good quote. Almost as good as the last time I
overheard some knucklehead recite it in a public place to impress his
peers. But the question at hand is: Do you have a *pun*?

In case you're the last person on Usenet who is not familiar with this
now-famous routine, I'll give you a quick lesson.

    Here's how it works:

    1) Locate the name of a dead celebrity (usually, this is reserved for
the recently deceased, but no won said Jade was "playing with a full
deck," as poker enthusiasts would say to describe somewon who is missing
a point, or is mentally unsound).

    2) Create a Usenet post with an "all caps" subject line stating "I
LOVED" and the name of the dead celebrity (generally with the text
enveloped in asterisks, or "splats," as my colleagues in the glamourous
"IT" industry say for purposes of jocularity).

    3) Compose the body of the post, making sure to feature a short vignette
about said celebrity, again, in all caps, and (here's the key) work a
"pun" based upon the subject's name into the text (a pun is a comical
    play on words).

Here's an example from a famous Usenet poster from years gone by:

Subject: *****I LOVED ANNA NICOLE SMITH****&**7&**

WHEN I THINK ABOUT WHAT MADE THIS BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY SO MEMORABLE,
THERE ARE JUST TWO VERY BIG THINGS THAT COME TO MIND: HER HEART, AND HER
PASSION. FROM HER CAREER AS A PLAYBOY PINUP MODEL, TO WHATEVER IT WAS
THAT SHE DID AFTER THAT, SHE WARMED THE HEARTS OF MANY WITH HER
MONROESQUE SEXY, SQUEAKY VOICE AND HER VOLUPTUOUS FIGURE, AND WHEN I
THINK THAT HER LIFE WAS CUT TRAGICALLY SHORT, I WANNA TAKE OUT MY OLD
ISSUES OF PLAYBOY, "ANNA" WANNA HANG 'EM UP ON MY CEILING AS A TRIBUTE.

See how it works? Now, we can all enjoy the fun of "roasting" a
    celebrity--albeit posthumously--with a lighthearted gag. I am glad to
    have helped you.

    Love,
    Wavy G

I'm inclined to agree, although I did find Young Fronkensteen and High
Anxiety to be really good. But in general, I think Brooks led the way
for th modern trend in low comedy, of which I think you listed several
    examples.
