First verse. Oh, me father was an Ulster man, proud Protestant was he. Me mother was a Catholic girl from County Clark you see.

They were married in two churches and lived happy enough, until the day that I was born when things got rather tough.

Chorus. Oh, it was the biggest mix-up that you have ever seen, me father he was orange and me mother she was green.

    You alll sing along. :thumb:

Thanks for the link, Aidan. He seems to have some good points, like being anti-pervert, but this anti-Catholic stuff is crazy.
He sounds sort of like a terrorist to me, burning Catholic homes and saying the priests were handing out machineguns to their parishioners.
But I don't live in Ireland, so the situation could be different than the way I'm seeing it.

No we aren't. He thinks Islam is okay, and I think it is a deadly threat to the world. Big difference.

It's just my opinion. An opinion is what it is and is niether right nor wrong. Besides, I wasn't wrong the first time either. :)

    Ian Paisley of Ulster.

CraigG,Ian Paisley DOES NOT support any terrorist organisations at all.He was involved with a number of organisations, but withdrew from them once they began advocating a partisan agenda. He may hate the Cult of Rome, but he is known to have helped Roman Catholics who live in his constituency. He is an excellent constituency M.P.,which is one reason why Ian Paisley should have been made a hereditary Lord years ago!

There is an old saying with different versions but basically "Be careful with who you hate for you will become hate".

    KLJ Really Smart Guy

Disregarding the fact that the creation by the Crown of hereditary titles (rather than life peerages - the PM is real good at selling those) are almost unheard of today, Paisley is a hereditary lord in all but name. His father was a minister before him, and Ian Paisley inherited most of his father's flock. The Rev. Mr. Paisley also maintains a control over his flock similar to that Calvin maintained over his Geneva. (And I say this is a fellow Calvinist minister.)

Paisley is a sort of a Jerry Falwell with a more overt prejudice. An ugly soul to be sure.
    some quotes:
Paisley called Pope John XXIII a "Roman anti-Christ" and referred to the Catholic Church as the "Harlot of Babylon."
"We know your church to be the mother of harlots and the abomination of the earth."
During a visit from the Pope, Ian Paisley yelled "I denounce you, Anti-Christ!" several times at the European Parliament before being ejected. The whole incident can be heard on sermonaudio.com

In reference to the Ulster Unionist Party's Jewish candidate, Harold Smith, he said, "The Unionist party are boasting he (Harold Smith) is a Jew. As a Jew, he rejects our Lord Jesus, the New Testament, Protestant principles, the Glorious Reformation and the sanctity of the Lord's day. The Protestant throne and the Protestant constitution are nothing to him."
After a loyalist rally in 1968, Ian Paisley justified the burning of Catholic homes by claiming: "Catholic homes caught fire because they were loaded with petrol bombs; Catholic churches were attacked and burned because they were arsenals and priests handed out sub-machine guns to parishioners." He also said discrimination in employment and allocation of public housing for Catholics existed because "they breed like rabbits and multiply like vermin."
In 1958 he denounced Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother for "committing spiritual fornication and adultery with the Antichrist", after a visit by them to the new Pope, John XXIII.

This guy is a pretty small minded piece of poop (and that is a generous assessment), and if your faith resembles his you are about as shallow as a puddle of spit.

The man is a Bigot and in my humble opinion is as bad as Gerry Adams, the provinces would be a nicer place without people like them.
As for the most prominent polotician why not go with Pope John Paul after all without him Comunism woud not have colapsed in eastern europe :) he scared the Russians enough that they and the Bulgars tried to have him killed using a Turk. his simple threat of retuning to Poland as a simple priest scared the Generals enough to make them back down on Lech and Solidarity. I will say though that his stance on Auds and the ordination of femals to the Glergy left a lot to be desired, but for the Anti-Christ he did a rather good job LOL

This is one of the reasons why I think that Truman is one of the greatest leaders that the United States ever had. He did dump MacArthur and could care less about his nation being mad due to the mass media of the day's misinformation. Yes MacArthur was successful with his amphibious landing at Inchon but MacArthur needed to be dumped for he basically wanted to fight China in China and we could not win a stuggle to the death land war against China in Asia. Also MacArthur became a loose cannon. He publicly criticised Truman's order not to invade China. We stopped the China advance and pushed them back due to our technoloy of air power and more importent artillary. The Chinese admitted to losing 390,000 men dead - UN sources put the figure at up to a million Chinese and half a million North Koreans dead. It is estimated that 10 million people died in the war - as many as died in the First World War The communist forces of North Korea and China liked wipping out entire villages as they advanced to leave no potential hostile forces to attack their rear. In 1953, Eisenhower became American president. The Americans threatened to use the atomic bomb if China did not stop fighting. The Chinese agree to a truce, which was signed on 27 July 1953. If we invaded China, then China would never heed to an atomic threat and continued fighting. They had the numbers to absorb more atomic attacks then Americans could ever be willing to deliver.

Gerry Adams is a mass murderer!

Steve, there is a huge difference between Gerry Adams & Ian Paisley.Ian Paisley has never killed anyone, whereas,Gerry Adams & Martin McGuinness both have.Ian Paisley is a very good Protestant like me who is standing up for the truth about Sinn Fein/I.R.A.,which he has done for more than 50 years.Sinn Fein/I.R.A. belongs in the dustbin of history, not in either the British Parliament or the Parliament of Ulster! Gerry Adams,Martin McGuinness,& Bernadette Devlin should have been executed years ago,not just to send a warning to the Romish rebel pirate state south of Ulster not to support cross-border terrorism against the Unionist majority population of Ulster.

    Aidan.
