If those semi-nude are women... terrorism would be the last thing on my mind. Which may be a reason so many Muslims become terrorists: They can't drink and they refrain from even thinking about bikini-clad women. Hell, I can see their point... not much else to do but go to war under those restrictions lol

 

you might have a point here. Pent up sexual frustration with a brain washed reasoning to kill is a most dangerous thing. Perhaps this is why nations always preferred to send teenagers into combat after months with isolated training.

 

My opinion is that it is because it is harder to hate people who you have actual interaction, especially socially, with. Experience or exposure counts for little in my opinion. I grew up in a city, in the North, of about 100K people and about a quarter of the population was black. Blacks were mostly in their neighborhoods and whites in theirs. With a few exceptions of poor whites in the mostly black neighborhoods and even fewer exceptions of financially better off blacks in the lower middle class white neighborhoods. In the rich neighborhoods, they were all white. So, while there was certainly experience and exposure, there was little actual interaction, even less social interaction...and a lot of racism.

 

I've always been of the opinion that that was true. It's easier to control and manipulate the young and eager, especially when they sign up willingly, knowing they must obey their superiors. That they do sign-up isn't an issue with me... it's the idea that some don't fully understand what it means to be a soldier before they sign-up. Personally, I'd want to have those kids who are about to sign-up watch videos of actual combat, all forms expected of them, as well as what their bodies will look like after being shot, blown-up, and/or set on fire. They need to see what they are in for.

No matter how hard we try to say that discrimination has been overcome in this country, it has not. I was married to a Jamaican woman and we lived in Morgantown, West Virginia, a very conservative part of the country, but still got treated differently in certain places. I was disappointed in my fellow Mountaineers when things like this happened and my wife just did not have this kind of problem in Jamaican. Now we see something like this news story and I again feel the same way now as I did then.

Our children have no prejudice. They do not discriminate against who they play with, they will play with a child of any color just watch them and see. So where do you think our children get racism from? It is us. Now that is a shame. Maybe the next generation, or even the next, will not be faced with this kind of attitude towards others. However, we are the ones that have to teach our children this is wrong. What do you think we should do to correct this kind of behavior?

I'm certain that, in time, racism will become less and less an issue people will face. It's already much better than it was 50 years ago, and 50 years from now it'll be even better. It takes time though, to rid the influence of racist generations and their ignorant teachings. And of course, it will never be fully removed from society, there will always be ignorance after all.

In the mean time, I say people should get naked and let nature take it's course lol

I do see your point, that it has gotten a lot better over the past 50 years and will continue to get better over the next 50 years. So true, but we still have a responsibility to teach our children this is wrong. Wouldn't you agree?

 

There's the issue, and it applies to a lot of what happens here in Partisan Lines. How do you force someone to teach behavior to their children that they themselves don't believe is right?

From the racist's perspective, they are not doing anthing wrong. From the non-racist's perspective, the racist's beliefs are preventing the racists from seeing that their behavior is wrong.

How do you convince someone they are wrong when their belief says they are right? IMO, you don't... or you don't ususally succeed in the attempt (since your point above is to make the attempt). IMO, this stubborness means it usually takes generations before the wrong behavior can be un-learned. It requires individuals in the family, who don't share their parents beliefs, to make real substantive change in the behavior.

BTW... while wrong behavior can eventually change to right, right behavior can also change to wrong... and perspective determines what is right and wrong. Just sayin'
