Are you talking about closing down legal border crossings? If so, why do you hate Mexicans so much?

If you are talking about illegal border crossings, he has signed legislation to try to close that down. But, it ain't easy, I am not sure Congress has funded much yet and I am not so sure the current Congress will be too much in favor of any additional measures. Campaign rhetoric aside.

close= close to all non-legit traffic. And yes it can be done without congress, put more border patrol out there and take the problem seriously. If there were a real terror threat he would do it, if there were a real terror threat the border wold be treated much differently than it is being treated and you know that.

If you think it is a piece of cake to close a 1951 mile border, you are either delusional or naive. You might want to look up some things on Secure Border Initiative, hiring new agents, using the guard as stop gap , increased budgets, border fences, and on and on.

come down to AZ and see if they are putting in a reasonable effort, they simply are not. I am surprised that you are defending their halfa**ed effort, you know that they are not doing the job anywhere near what they could and would (if terrorism were a real threat)

Why not utilise the National guard at known hotspots & or get them to participate in building a better barrier? Aside from the possible influx of terrorists & of course illigal migrants it would also help cut down on drug smuggling into the US. What measures are in place on the Canadian/US border?

They did put 6000, I think, Guardsmen on the border as they hired new agents. I think they are pulling some off now. The Guard is a little busy in other areas too, though. ;)

Contrary to what the conspiracy theory sites are apparently saying  there are initiatives happening to secure the border better and they have been ongoing especially since 911. Certainly it is a bigger issue now than it was under 'other' administrations and, sadly, probably more than under the next administration (if the Dems get in).

The fact is that the war on terror is bs and the lack of any immigration policy proves it, and you know it.

Absolutely correct, and the President is getting little if any help along these lines from the Democratic controled Congress. In fact, the Dems have gone out of their way to stall all efforts to close the border. It seems that most of them view the closing of the Mexican border as some sort of violation of the Voting Rights Act.
Is it any wonder that they just sit on their hands and blame someone else. Lets wait and see how well they do when and IF they take to white-house in 08.

No, the only thing this conversation seems to prove is that you do not have a clue about how to secure the borders, nor about what is already being done, nor how difficult a task it is. My guess is that you were probably just starting a thread here based upon something you read on one of your kook conspiracy theory sites.

Policy is made by Congress, smart a$$. Why aren't the Democrats doing it?

Bush has never taken out the terror card on the border, because there is no reality to terrorism.

So you really don't think terrorism exists. You really believe that it is not real. And I guess since it isn't real all the people killed by it don't matter and aren't real either. Your world view just became a little more frighteningly and disgustingly clear to me. I guess I severely underestimated your thinking.

I used to just think you were naive. Now I think something else entirely. I think I will pass on any further discussion with you. I also think this is the first time I have used the ignore function here.
