When the Supreme Court is this wrong, it’s time to overrule them

If the opponents of Citizens United think they have a chance of passing a Constitutional amendment, I say "Have at it". Good luck.

Oh, you mean the majority of your fellow citizens who apparently support the idea of representative democracy upon which the United States was founded, as opposed to the plutocrats and their flunkies, stooges, henchmen, and dupes? Which side are you on?

Like Moron Joe is fond of saying, "It's the law of the land". In other words, if you don't like it... too bad.

But, hey, if you want to join the effort for a Constitutional amendment, go for it. But, like I said earlier, good luck. Constitutional amendments aren't easy.

Funny. Coitus seems to have no concept the democratic process, any knowledge of history, and certainly doesn't understand modern politics. It sure as hell doesn't require a Constitutional Amendment. There are plenty of ways to pass any number of laws effectively declaring corporations subordinate to the people of this country. It will take the citizens and the political will to do so but that is far, far different than trying to pass a Constitutional Amendment. Hell, the law of the land is the ACA and how long have the idiots in the GOP have been trying to strike that law down? You'd think Coitus would learn that laws are overturned, created, modified, strengthened, weakened and eliminated all the time. He not too bright.

God forbid they ever do. It will be the death of us all (or we will all be speaking Chinese or Arabic).

Dummy. I'm not the one calling for a Constitutional amendment. But, if these opponents think that's the right course, good luck to them. It is, after all, the law of the land, but if the "amendment route" is the one they want to try, well, go ahead. Actually, I couldn't agree with you more that there are many ways that laws can be "overturned, created, modified, strengthened, etc.". I never said there weren't. You enjoy trying to put words in peoples' mouths, but you just put your foot in your own.

Are you saying that you trust corporate conglomerates more than your fellow citizens?

I trust anything corporate more than anything governmental. Money reins in the corporations while the only thing reining in the government is how much they can give the people to buy their vote. And that ranges from welfare, to bribes, to government job perpetuality, to free telephones, to hiding email, etc. and so on.

That wasn't the question. Are you incapable of giving an honest answer?

How does money rein in a corporation worth billions of dollars?

So again, you don't trust your fellow citizens to make sensible choices and oppose power grabs by government?

Maybe not your exact words, but that really was your question I answered.
Can you name me a single company that has misappropriated 20% of their budget? Or I will word it another way. Name a single governmental entity that isn't wasting over 5% of their budget. Now name a single company that wastes anything approaching 5%.
The results should be obvious to anyone.

    Here is one for today;
WASHINGTON – Social Security overpaid nearly half the people receiving disability benefits over the past decade, according to a government watchdog, raising questions about the management of the cash-strapped program.

In all, Social Security overpaid beneficiaries by nearly $17 billion, according to a 10-year study by the agency's inspector general.

If you limit the right to political expression to one type of corporation, then you will limit it to all. If you want to start, I suggest IRS 527 corporations (political parties like Democrats and Republicans).

If corporate power isn't curtailed, you might as well just say hello Fascism. The next thing you can say good bye to is your freedom. Fascism doesn't much like personal freedom. I kind of thought you guys did?

Oh, now you know more about what's in my mind than I do myself. Your dishonesty is reassuring.

That is not an explanation of how "money reins in corporations." In fact, you're just spewing incoherent predigested talking-point bullshit. As if you've never heard of Enron, and any number of other rogue corporations. The corporate propaganda machine has certainly had its way with you. Fool.

Sorry, but it is like our justice system. It is not perfect, but there is nothing better. Oh, just what happened to Enron? I doubt they lost as much as my fellow citizens (or the SSA, as I prefer), but somehow the SSA continues throwing my money away. Just look at the VA. They cannot even discipline the offenders. And the IRS cannot even admit they have offenders. And more of my fellow citizens who passed the bar cannot remember what the law says about giving guns to the enemy, voter intimidation, wire tapping, separation of powers, etc.

BTW, maybe you could explain why it seems all liberals feel it necessary to debase your opposition? Do you honestly think that will convert even the most idiotic to your side?

You ignore anything that contradicts the blatant lies and ignorance that you post, and just keep regurgitating talking points from the American right-wing echo chamber. I can recognize the pointlessness of expecting a genuine response from you; in fact I expect nothing more than what I get.

I'm also completely comfortable in recognizing that there is no point in trying to "convert" somebody who has obviously been very thoroughly indoctrinated, and has no interest in giving serious consideration to anything that doesn't jibe with that indoctrination.

It's been clear to me since shortly after I joined this site that its ethos is equivalent to a mud pit. Luckily for me, I don't mind getting muddy. There was a time when I attempted to have serious discussions here, but I've accepted that nobody is interested, so now I just stop by for a laugh every once in a while.
