Their tired old disproven mantra that says if everyone had guns, there would be no gun violence. Riiiiight! The Empire State Building shooting proved exactly the opposite. The well-trained, professional NY police department personnel managed to shoot 9 by-standers trying to stop this one guy. Imagine if every Tom, Dick, and Harry without training were to take aim at some shooter in a crowded public area.
2 dead, 9 wounded in Empire State Building shootings, police say BULLETS August 24, 2012|By David Ariosto, CNN A disgruntled former apparel designer was killed Friday morning in a hail of police gunfire in front of the Empire State Building after he shot and killed a co-worker and engaged in a gunbattle with two officers, authorities said. At least nine others were wounded in the incident as the officers unloaded 14 rounds at the gunman, who apparently turned his weapon against them in one of Manhattan's busiest neighborhoods. The violence erupted just as visitors began to queue up to ascend the famous New York skyscraper.
I support gun ownership. I understand that means people will be murdered, where they wouldn't otherwise have been if a gun wasn't involved. I also understand that people are kept from harm BECAUSE they (or someone) had a gun.
I don't know him (Booker). Did he say something similar to my comment? As for Nation, he strongly disagrees with me on guns in America. While I understand your need to continue the "game", even you would have to admit that.
George Zimmerman considers defamation lawsuit against NBC October 4, 2012 George Zimmerman is considering a defamation lawsuit against NBC over its reports about a phone call he made to dispatchers moments before he fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman's attorney said Thursday that the former neighborhood watch captain has contacted another lawyer about possibly filing a lawsuit. "NBC intentionally edited George Zimmerman’s non-emergency call to make it appear he is a racist, then they repeatedly broadcast that edited tape to the nation," Mark O'Mara, Zimmerman's attorney said in a statement obtained by FoxNews.com. "What NBC did is outrageous. Due in large part to NBC’s actions, George has had to live in hiding, in fear for his life." Each of the reports on either "Today" or NBC's Miami station involve editing of Zimmerman's phone call to a dispatcher that emphasizes his identification of Martin as a black male. Three employees of NBC or the NBC-owned station lost their jobs because of the editing changes.NBC spokeswoman Megan Kopf says the network isn't commenting. Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder but has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense.A delay in Zimmerman's arrest led to protests nationwide. Even the police, who have training in the proper use of guns, can make wrong decisions and kill someone they had no real reason to. With the nude dude, the officer should have been able to use non-lethal force. It was at a cop station for cryin' out loud. He could have held on to the guy until the other cops, a few steps away, finished their donuts and came out to help subdue the guy. In the New York incident, the cop pulled the trigger first, asked questions later. I'm not even getting into that old incident.
Oh, I didn't know you were on the scene. Thanks for your first-hand witness account of what happened.
