Roughly 40. The poll showed before was from a 538 running meta-poll that weights polls based on past accuracy and several other factors. Polls may not be great but it's all we've got for now.

Check out this overlay of 2016 v 2020, updated last a couple days ago. It's at least more stable now.

Every bit as predictable as Trump being compared to Hitler in left leaning discussion. And fact is, until we all clean the mud from our own shoes, the name calling will continue and little of any real substance will ensue.

But seriously, the comparisons aren't so much to one person as they are to one person's political philosophy. The tenets of Fascism and the behaviors of Trump have remarkably similar characteristics. I could point them out again, but why bother. Trump is following in the footsteps of the Fascist dictator as well as other dictators past and present but that doesn't make Trump Hitler. The main difference is that Hitler was smart. I think comparing Trump directly to Hitler is an insult. To Hitler. Adolph would not be pleased.

The pollsters are usually pretty smart, but lazy, They sit back at their computers, filtering their call lists and crunching the data, while paying college kids to make the calls. Not being on the line when the questions are answered, they don't have any sense for how credible the recorded data really is.

I used to hate answering the surveys, but now enjoy toying with the callers. Like measely 1/4 lb bass slowly being reeled in over a lengthy 2 minutes, they don't have a friggin' clue what's really on the other end of the line.

Down and dirty politics are an American tradition going back to the earliest days of the nation. I don't know of any idyllic period in which reason and mutual respect reigned. Even during WWII Roosevelt battled with Republicans who opposed his approach. Somehow the country has managed to carry on despite this. The pearl-clutching about how "uncivil :(" political life in the US has supposedly "become" does nothing but betray an ignorance of the history of American politics.
