Biggest welfare queens are farmers

Now it good current days in America where you pay farmers much money sit on bum, do nothing while import all food from Mexico, Chile, China(hmm and few disease too) while fields sit unplowed in USA. NOw you are collectivising farms like Russia, but not call collective farm, but Agri-business. You think America would learn.

Collective society is doomed for failure. The reason is that a doctor is paid the same as a peon. There is no incintive for the doctor to practice. It is as simple as that.

Besides that, we have to fight something and why not the Russians? I would rather fight them than the Chinese unless it was Moscow in the winter. I learn from my mistakes.! Been there, done that.

I think we could whoop the Russians with western music. It soothes the savage beast. I can play on the piano a russian dance. It needs some agility. When I hit a chord off key, that is when you kick out.
I would use the torture used in gitmo, Vanilla Ice's song, Ice, Ice Baby. It was on loudspeakers and after one million times drove them insane.

I listened to the song one time and it drove me insaner.

 

Yes, I agree collective farms fail, so why you collectivize your farms from small business into now giant agribusiness with only drive of profit?

See, Russia privatize because it realize it better, but you guys go and collectivize and give label of agri-business, which nothing but collective farm perfumed up and smell good.

 

Its called business...free market...the government doesnt force it on us, these are private businesses and they make money doing it this way...I know this is a new concept for you.

no monopoly...there are both small farmers and large corp. farmers, both make money...an monopoly means there is only one company making money...this is not the case at all. You need to learn more about the US before you talk about it...I notice we are your favorite subject

Is that what they tell you to believe? Your media hasn't changed much. Fields are not unplowed. We import and export food because we enjoy the variety. But you are correct, we have to make sure we don't imitate Russia or we'll end up like Russia, a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.

 

Please study last 50 years of agriculture, talk American farmers and ask them how positive they are. Unless now they big business, they get plowed under agri-business. There far fewer farms in USA than even 20 years ago - I say because it goes against free market economy to have not so many suppliers, but only few big business or monopoly.

Monopoly whether it governemnt or corporation not good for anybody.

 

Very similar to trends over here a lot less small farms around these days compared to when I was a boy, most are as KV says amalgamated into larger units.

 

The roots of freedom and good economy begin with small business - not big business. When small business go away you only have monopoly and socialism which are brothers in kind against humanity.

 

And what does that mean? Nothing, that's what. What you describe in farming is taking place in all businesses, at least over here. There is a trend toward consolidating businesses into larger economic units to gain efficiency in industries where that is feasible -- primarily the capital intensive businesses where the little guy has a natural disadvantage. On the other hand, small business is booming in the service sectors where size doesn't confer as much of an advantage. This doesn't go against the free market. It IS the free market at work. What you you do over there, have the government prevent it? Probably. Nothing you say is new, or bad, except to Russians who have no tradition of free markets and had to be taught by western consultants after the Berlin Wall fell. Efficiency isn't a natural part of your culture as it is here.

White House threatens veto of House farm

WASHINGTON -- The White House issued a veto threat against a multibillion-dollar farm bill, complicating passage of the legislation as House members scrambled Wednesday to find $4 billion to pay for food stamps and other nutrition programs.
Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns said the House bill, which extends government agriculture and nutrition programs, doesn't do enough to reduce subsidies to growers.


"We believe the bill put forth by the committee misses a major opportunity," he told reporters.


The chamber is expected to begin consideration of the five-year farm bill Thursday. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has backed the legislation but has faced criticism from groups who say it doesn't go far enough to trim government programs.


The bill, approved unanimously by the House Agriculture Committee last week, contains modest attempts at reform. It would ban federal subsidies to farmers with incomes averaging more than $1 million a year and stop farmers from collecting payments for multiple farm businesses.


Pelosi called the legislation a "critical first step for reform." But Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns said Wednesday that the millionaires proposal would only affect about 7,000 farmers, noting that the administration has suggested limiting subsidies for those with incomes of more than $200,000. That proposal would affect 38,000 farmers, Johanns said.


"There is a point at which people graduate from receiving government cash subsidies," Johanns said...

Hmmm, maybe it's going to get veto'd because of all the pork which is attached to the bill.

 

Absolutely true KV, and the family farm is about like hens teeth, and very hard to find. It's the undocumented Mexican who works these Super Agri-farms and the owners sit in their air conditioned apartments in New York and collect the money that our government gives them for NOT planting certain crops.
The family farm is a thing of the past....and long gone!
