I tend to agree with you about a lot of that...at least the first part before you kind of went back to a stock rant script. The problem is that with corporations being set up to limit liability and having the rights of people, it makes it very difficult to hold the CEO types accountable. Take the illegals for instance. I believe we should jail the people who hire them and deport the ones being hired. But, let's say a corporation hires illegals to work the kitchen at some of their 10000 fast food places. The CEO types are well insulated from the hiring process so it is very difficult to throw them in jail. They may truthfully know nothing about it...or they might...how do you tell? But, who would realistically take the fall? Probably the poor slob local guy who hired them because he is afraid he might lose his job if he spends too much on labor. So about the best that can be done is to fine the Corporation. The problem is that the Corporations run the government so the fines usually are a pittance. Fine a corporation a 100 million dollars per illegal for hiring illegals and see how fast it stops. But that will never happen. It is very hard to legislate anything to make the people at the top personally accountable for anything. That is by design, by the way. They pay lobbyists a lot of money to write the legislation that is passed. Look at the recent financial reform legislation for a perfect, recent example.
sounds more to me like the people have adopted a liberal policy...place hand out....accept help...put hand back out....and so on..
Typical rant of yours but what does it have to do with my post? I showed 2 real world examples of where extended unemployment benefits took motivation to work away from laid off workers.....or does this not jive with your warped sense of reality?
You can't hold a CEO accountable huh? Really? I'd bet if you made them personally responsibly criminally, it'd go away fast. Maybe we need a "RICO" statute like we instituted against organized crime (which is all our version of crapitalism really is). That's almost exactly what's wrong with our whole (corporate/criminal structure...chose your word). Everything is compartmentalized so that Joe Blow doesn't know what Joe Smith is doing. Multiple tiers almost to infinity. Exactly what happened on 911. Reform could be done, but you're right, it never will. The whole system is so corrupt that it's long past the point of no return....reason I maintain my outlook. Time to throw the baby away with the bath water cause the baby is born into total evil. The small percentage of honest, morally decent people is far outnumbered by the greed driven evil that we call crapitalism.
Not really. Unless you change what a corporation is. Of course, they can be held accountable for criminal charges if they are proven to have done something criminal. But, like our politicians, they are very well insulated from that kind of accountability. Look at the recent Charlie Rangle situation for proof. Think he will do any time? Or even lose his job? Probably not...he is like a CEO.
Actually if you use Toe's "logic" BO would be the one going to jail if Rangel is proven guilty. BO is the CEO of the government, the dem party, whatever so whatever one his subordinates does is ultimately his responsibility, right Toe?
Well we could use your logic and say that Obama isn't responsible for much of anything...criminal or otherwise, but according to you, he's the bearer of all of the past and present carnage, and I'd wager you'd be amongst the first to say dimwit George wasn't responsible for the multitude of crimes that occurred during his assault on America. There's that Fox watcher's logic again.
Speaking of Charlie Rangel. MSNBC finally has a reporter. Luke Russert, the late Tim Russert’s son. Watch this video and see how the powerful elitist left wing socialist reacts to being thrown a unexpected hardhall. http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/0...ke-russert-spar-over-dumb-question-in-ethics/
