Obama never said he could fix everything immediately. He said time and time again that some things would take years, if not decades, to complete.
Why would I be mad we have a good goverment a tripple A rating slow growth, we are not in the Euro and Wales beat England & Argentina at Ruby But I have to agree with what you said that President Obama never said it would be done in 1 term in office Add to this not a single person has come forward on this forum and told me how a Republican Presidency under John McCain would have fared any better
He said if things weren't better within 3 years his presidency should be a 1 term proposition, so yeah.
I'm not certain of the correct quotes, but it had something to do with 'not being able to wave a magic wand' and that 'tough times' were inevitably part of our near-future. That Americans 'have to face the reality of our situation', that we ARE in tough times and there is no easy 'fix' that will make it better.
So, in BO's economy, gas will be cheap but no one will be able to afford a car? Well, the economy is crashing & gas is not cheap...it's way higher than when BO took over. Do you really want 4 more years of this or is it time to admit BO isn't up to the job?
Is that really what you mean to say? BTW, I pay zero attention to what they say. Any politician can say just about anything at anytime just to placate his audience of the moment. I only support / vote for a politician based on what he/she has done. The fact that BO has visited 57 states has nothing to do with whether or not I will support him. The fact that he has done everything he can to "redistribute the wealth" has everything to do with my support - or lack thereof.
He also said that the problem wasn't created overnight and that it wouldn't be solved overnight either. I seem to remember the large ship turning around analogy. You always forget that he said that, conveniently I might add.
I hear that a lot from republicans, like a mantra... but what I remember is that the economy had crashed, demand for gas was considered lower (the theory behind that being people were hoarding money and travelled less often), which resulted in cheaper gas. As the economy recovered (albeit slow and slight), demand was considered to be higher (than when Obama first took office), with the result being that gas prices increased. Four more years!
...but after 2 1/2 years shouldn't we be seeing positive changes instead of dramatically worse condition? Think about it. If your school hired someone to fix a troubled department and after 2 1/2 years the problems were actually worsening (after all, the guy was hired based his understanding of the problems & promised he had the solutions & fixes) would you re-hire the guy or realize it's time to cut bait? Be honest.
Actually, it's commonly understood that our calls for alternative energy sources & increased domestic production spooked the oil suppliers to lower their prices. Once we let up the prices eased back up.Iit doesn't help that BO has publlically stated $4.00/gal gas is necessary to accomplish whateve it is he thinks it will accomplish.
Honestly, I don't think we are worse off then before he took office, I believe we are better off. The economy was in free-fall, and without drastic measures may have become a depression. I also am begining to wonder if you are a lobbiest for a republican think tank (talk about an oxymoron!)... nah, just angry I imagine LOL
More concern than anger. Do we really need to list the leading economic indicators and where they stand today as opposed to when BO took over? How can you feel good about the job the guy is doing? Shouldn't we be seeing some improvement by now? I understand BO has a new jobs program...why do we have to wait until next month, after his latest vacation, to hear it? Is that really leadership?
Another common misconception by republicans, spread like a disease among the hateful. The theory that big business is spooked by policies is sound, but misses the obvious truth: that we are allowing, even demanding, that big business dictate our political and economic systems. Allowing 'big business' to dictate our economic policies, out of fear of their response should we do otherwise, is unwise. They are not fighting for America's benefit, only their own. I have no issue with a company wanting to make a profit, but I do have issues with them inciting fear in the ignorant masses that listen to them. America needs to stop sucking on the teet of big business, grow up, and take care of business themselves LOL
...I'm curious about this... I've noticed republicans have been whining about Obama being on vacation and wonder why? Has he really taken so many vacations? Admittedly, I haven't noticed myself, though I'm wondering how his vacations would compare to past presidents. I know Bush Jr. took an awful lot of vacation-time, adding up to something like 2-1/2 years of the 8 years in office, and that the two most recent presidents with less vacation time were probably Carter and Clinton, or am I mistaken?
