He knows how to make the rich richer.

 

Government isn't a business nor should it be treated as if it were a business. The tired old meme that businesses are somehow better at running things is disproven nearly daily. The only difference is that while an organization like Enron screws over a bunch of people, that business is blamed specifically. When there is some facet of government that gets caught mishandling public money either through corruption or incompetence, ALL of government is blamed. Furthermore, even if that one area of government is guilty of corruption involving some business entity, the business entity involved is either slapped with a minor fine of no consequence to the money they made through the initial corruption or they aren't held accountable at all. No, government is not a business nor should it ever be run like one. I'll take any degree of government inefficiency over the lack of accountability of private business any old time.

 

Bill Gates is not an economist. Actual economists who do know the ins and outs of the economy because that is their job, say that raising the minimum wage will stimulate the economy and lift millions of people above the poverty line. I guess Bill Gates might have an opinion on rocket science too but running a business doesn't really qualify him as an expert in that field either. Leave it to FOX.

Let see, by FOX's logic, Bill Gates runs a large business and the economy is made up of businesses therefore he must know a lot about the economy. In that case, rocket science involves a lot of technology and computers therefore we should ask Bill Gates all of out rocket science questions. Because clearly Bill Gates is a rocket scientist just like he is an economist.

But, really, what do Bill Gates and Warren Buffett know about business? Oh, by the way, the minimum wage is tied to business like white on rice.

 

Here is a clue for you and rimmer. When you cite something to support your argument, it should actually support your argument.

A few years back (decades, actually), when he became a billionaire, and the stats were published, I calculated that he made $650 a second, every second, over the previous year...but I'm a bit of a geek that way.

That said, I'm not exactly a geek...though I resemble one, occasionally.
