Don't you guys get it? People losing jobs & having their hours cut are just part of the plan to eventually force everyone into government dependence.
I think old "Green Moon" JoeNation is just thick-skulled. News report after news report has stated that employers are cutting back hours DUE TO OBAMACARE! No other reason! Yet, he refuses to believe it! Like you said Jack, if Obama said the moon was green....... View attachment 2007
The same nonsense was spread about Medicare by the same type of people when it was enacted and this is no different. You will hoot and holler and whine and stomp your feet and in the end, you won't have made an iota of difference and people will absolutely love having universal health care and no one will remember the tantrums you threw, the lies you told, or the fuss you made. Your little protests will all be forgotten.
Is obamacare even in effect yet? Why are they cutting back hours in advance of what hasn't even taken place yet?
Funny, but they have this law that companies/CEOs are REQUIRED to operate efficiently and for a profit. And that means for both today and to plan for tomorrow. Obamacare may not be totally in effect today, but the biggest chunk is supposed to start 1/1/14.
Does this look cleaned? Ooops, Peter may give me an infraction for discussing coins on the Partisan Lines forum!!!
It doesn't kick in completely until January 1st of course but many regulations in the name of consumer protection are already rolled out as we all know. My guess is that a lot of Right-wing fanatics, CEO's, and psychopaths that have both power and influence are making the new law's implementation as bad as they can afford to make it via the crazies in the Tea Party club. I believe that if you look up sore loser in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of the GOP. The GOP is about the greatest example of a metaphor for a spoiled rotten child throwing a whiny tantrum because they didn't get their way. Now the brats have decided to hold their breath until they turn purple and scream demands at the top of their lungs. Elections have consequences that we can't simply ignore because we don't get everything we want. The GOP fanatics have swung so far to the Right that they have lost the ability to act rational. The fringe has the Right-wing establishment trembling in fear of losing their jobs and regularly threaten to primary anyone that goes against them. Threaten and intimidate the McConnells and the Boners all you want but don't try that tactic on the Left. We've already seen how well it works out for the establishment Republicans and we aren't willing to give in to a bunch of bullies and cowards as easily as the spineless GOP leadership did. Bring it on.
Don't get me wrong...I would love it too...if we had the money to pay for it. Democrats wheel out all these benefit programs without any idea how to fund them. The latest thing Obama wants is universal pre-school. Great! ...you paying for it? It pisses me off that I'm single and have to pay $5000/year to educate every other deadbeat's offspring..."so they don't grow up bad and rob me"! They couldn't rob me more than the government is already!
We have the money to pay for all kinds of things that aren't nearly as important as the health of our citizens. If we are going to choose to pay for something that we either can or can't afford, I think health care falls squarely into the realm of essential programs since we all benefit from a healthier citizenry. But that is just me.
Fine! As I've always said... 1. Determine the optimum tax rate (greatest receipts) and don't screw with it. 2. Let both parties prioritize budget line items 3. Combine the lists (adding priority ranks) and re-sort 4. Start from the top and start funding. When the tax receipts run out...STOP!!! ...if that funds healthcare...great! (no argument) Living in an "unlimited income" fantasy-land is no solution. Do you really have that much disregard for future generations? ...and you call Republicans "selfish"? ...shame on you. Your solution for future generations is...abortion!!!
Yep, back in the late 90's almost everyone I worked with got their hours cut, and the company raised the number of hours for full-time eligibility from 26 to 32. They cut department hours in half too. Of course, that was ObamaCare's fault, according to idiotic right-wing nut-jobs..
It sounds more like it was Clinton's fault, but if you want to blame it on Obama, who am I to argue? Seriously however, the hours being cut DUE TO OBAMACARE are Obama's (and Reid and Pelosi's) fault. Who else could you blame? I mean, his name is all over the thing, for crissake!
That would certainly be different than the experience of most but, then again, anyplace that hired you was probably in trouble anyway. From the time Reagan rescued us from Carter's (formerly the worst president in our history) time in office, until the tech bubble burst, most businesses were prosperous.
They are prosperous because they limit expenses. The larger a company gets the more they look at payroll, and payroll reductions, as an easy way to increase profits, not that you can understand that, given your severe limitations in accepting, and being a part of, an honest conversation.
Any responsible company (or individual) understands that an expense reduction is the same as a tax-free return on investment. That's the job of a company (why they exist)...maximizing investor return. However, when it comes to employee compensation, companies are in a competitive market for talent. As with any market, supply and demand dictates price; you can't simply cut employee compensation without losing required talent. Employers can lower compensation only when the labor pool grows relative to the available jobs or when available jobs drop relative to the labor pool. Globalization (free-trade agreements) has had a huge impact on the labor supply/demand dynamic. The embedded income tax in the price of our products has sucked jobs off-shore...further depressing employee compensation. Simply blaming/criticizing employers for offering market-based compensation shows how much you don't understand...
Hypocrite. I could say the same thing about you, for your response to my response to David. You didn't explain every single reason in your response either, because you were focusing on a specific point to make. That makes you a hypocrite, for doing the same thing that you are (falsely) accusing me of.
You're comment to David suggests you feel that companies capriciously cut pay and benefits to their workforce as..."a simply way to increase profits". I'm simply pointing out the error in your statement. You go on to make a wholly unwarranted personal attack towards David that has no relationship to the point you're trying to make. I simply pointed your disrespectful comments back at you...how does that make me a "hypocrite"?
