Lasy year BO made it so easy (and attractive) to take on student loan debt but I guess he forgot Part II...these grads actually need a chance to start a career : The Glum and the Restless - Jim Tankersley - NationalJournal.com
Over the long term, is it better for the country to have an educated work force or an uneducated work force?
A recently graduated college educated engineer can always take a job at McDonalds but a McDonalds employee with no college education can't take a job as an engineer.
So, in this "new normal" the engineering graduates can't get jobs as engineers but they can get jobs at McDonalds and still have all that student loan debt, I guess.
I said what is better for the country. Not for an individual. I think the President is typically charged with doing what is best for the country as a whole, not necessarily what is best for David and Stu. And hopefully not just what is best for the country this very second but what is best for the country over the long term.
Actually, I doubt McD's would hire an engineering graduate... they prefer highschool kids, easy to hire and fire. I know many people who were not hired (for various jobs) because they were overqualified. Then again, they like slightly older people (25 to 45) for cleaning up at night, cleaning the grease out of the pans, mopping the floors, cleaning the toilets. He might be able to get that job... if it's available lol
It is wrong to claim something that you did not do for a resume. But I think it is ok to not tell them everything you did do. When I applied for this job (as a worker bee), I didn't tell them I had been a supervisor of a larger shop for the last 5 years.
True, but I was assuming the guy would have his schooling on the application form, and would have to talk about it in any interview. I had applied for one job and they wanted me in maintenance instead, I needed work so I took the job... and was the boss of that department within a year (despite several other people in that department who had been there for years) ...I held that job for 7 years, until they phased-out the department. I went to apply for a part-time maintenance job, a real crappy one (like 10 hours a week), horrible travel issues (had that covered), but I could see in the interviewers eyes she wanted someone with less experience (she basically said as much too). She wanted someone who was less qualified and HAD to take the job... she saw me as someone who could easily walk away from the job... true or not, I was what they needed... but was passed over. They were still looking to fill that possition half a year later, ...their loss lol
You guys don't have to worry about any of this stuff anymore....In BO's new normal everyone is screwed.
