You're saying the government runs or controls my life by my possibly receivig assistance in the near future. I'm saying that's incorrect. But, are you saying you've never received any assistance from the government? Or never will? Even if you qualify for it? You'd turn it down to avoid being controlled, to have your life run by the government? Me? I'll accept the assistance, I want a chance to receive this "quality health care" I've heard so much about.
lol... fear what? What's the worse that can happen? Seriously. The new leader immediately orders his forces to engage America, all missles launched? What do you think the outcome of that would be? Fear? Caution yes, fear no... lol
As out of whack as that government is, your scenario is not as far fetched as it might sound. BTW, the last I checked, this is/was one of you communists.
You have the same coverage right now...it's called Medicare/Medicaid....you won't see any change in coverage. The only difference under Obamacare is that we all have to fall under the same system rather than being afforded the opportunity to select & manage our own. Thank you benevolent government!
First of all, the media is not objective, like it is suppose to be. Our government is the best in the world, in my opinion, but we have flawed people running it. Since only half the people in this country vote, people who do not vote, should not complain that much. If everyone did vote, then we could actually change things by majority rule, which is the intent. Lobbyists do corrupt politicians, that is their job to get politicians to vote for things that are important to that lobbyist and it works. Now communism does not work, period. Look around the world, it does not work. Our system could work better if the politicians actually worked for the people that sent them there and not for the lobbyists. How do you think so many politicians go to Washington a middle classed person and come back wealthy? That should tell us something about how corrupt our politicians have become. Why does a person spend millions of dollars to win the presidency, which only pays $400,000 or $500,000? Does that make sense to anyone in the business world? It sure does not to me and the media tries to manipulate who we vote for. It is a shame, but I think the media does influence who we vote for, instead of us just finding out for ourselves.
I don't see how a government can be partially communist. Is that really possible? Now I see some socialism in our government, but I think it is for the time being because of the economic mess we were in. Capitalism is good as long as it does not allow companies to become monopolies, which I do believe has happened in some cases. I believe in a free market that will keep prices competitive and make companies sell better quality of products. Now all the personal attacks are kind of disappointing to me here. The greatest thing about the United States is that we can disagree and still come to a compromise, but this post or forum on politics shows me why our congress cannot do their darn jobs. I am passionate about subjects and feel strongly about subjects, but I also know that I can find middle ground with someone that disagrees with me. Now we are talking about fair media here. If someone wants to start a new thread called Name Calling that is fine with me, go start it, but can we stay on point here. I want to hear more about what people think of the media and discuss what I think with others to see their point of view. This may be hard to believe, but I can be wrong sometimes.
You have my opinion multiple times. I think that a large part of the problems with our government and business is that we now have media that want to drive a point rather than to report news. We used to hear about the corruption in government and not about the personal life of the opposition. Now we only hear news designed to achieve their objective and not what actually is happening. BTW, I am sure most of us here have formed our own opinions and are not particularly influenced by this, but those that listen to the celebrity news and only accidentally catch bleeps from the mainstream media are not so informed.
I don't receive Medicare/Medicaid. I pay with cash I earn. Since I don't earn much, I'm not allowed to get treatment. PPACA will change that though.
If you earn as little as you claim the program is available to you now. The same program BO is forcing us all into is available to you today as an opt-in, voluntary program.
I just love how "BO is forcing us all" into this opt-in, voluntary program. Sounds like Romney speak.
Not sure if this really a sincere lack of understanding or a case of blind stupidity on your part..... The bit about BO forcing us into his system refers to Obamacare & the lack of choice we have in the matter. What I call an opt-in voluntary program is the existing Medicare/Medicaid system. But you probably knew that, right?
Do you live in a community? If yes, then yer a commie LOL Again though, it's a perception of a definition. I lack the unrestrained emotional hatred for communism that people like Reagan had. They associate the word with the political rulers of the system, and have been taught to hate that system by their authority figures. I don't hate the word like Reagan did, and have no authority figures ...at least none that can brain-wash me easily. I am, and always will be, an independant thinker. I'm not easily convinced of a lie, and I ask questions most appear to avoid asking. I do that instead of blindly following along like Reagan did. that's one of many reasons why I say Reagan sucked lol
If I was living alone then yes, that would be true. I live with three other people though, and the combined income of the household is the standard I believe. If I'm wrong, let me know and I'll see if I can apply.
Uhm, I believe it is a reality check of ones history. I think you would be surprised on just how little of that we are really agreeing on (when we both are using the same history and definitions).
