I am always afraid of putting controversial subjects in my browser....... This group called the "Proud Boys" that keeps coming up. What sort of group is this? Is it another incarnation of a white supremacist or Neo-Nazi sort of group?
Not according to them. Self described "western chauvinists" and although they also don't like the term "alt-right" they are commonly classified as that. I also didn't like putting it in my browser to look at their page, but it should be safe to look. If you want to see, here's their webpage: https://proudboysusa.com/ The wikipedia page on them may also be illuminating: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proud_Boys Sidenote, what a strange time we live in where we're afraid to look stuff up for informational purposes. I totally feel what you're feeling too, but it seems dystopian.
It truly does. But it is well documented that the CIA routinely monitors web traffic and cell phone signals for "key words". I have enough stress in my life without worrying about some G-Man knocking on my door for "questionable" web searches.
Jeez... I read the Wiki page. Yes, it is very distressing that sort of hate considers itself "right". Sends chills down my back.
Not to de-rail the thread, but I have had experience with a similar deal. And it happened very shortly after 9/11.... I market construction materials and had sold a large order to a project on a nuclear power site. I hired a freight carrier to bring the materials in and his truck was swarmed at the gate by a well armed security force...... Prior to picking up my shipment he had delivered a truckload of fertilizer and there were 'sniffers" at the entrance to the nuclear facility. And apparently fertilizer is a prime ingredient for bomb making. What a mess!
The Proud Boys are mostly young, white, male, poorly educated, well-armed, rural, paramilitary, and a clear danger to our democracy. This is the best information on them and is safe to click on: https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/group/proud-boys
He has repeatedly, but you ignore it because you want to. The media brings up it constantly because they get to make headlines and divert attention from the violence perpetrated by Black Lives Matter and Antifa.
Have the idiot play just one of those video clips of Trump repeatedly denouncing vigilantes. Just one!
But he gave the Proud Boys a call out and empowered their cause. He was asked to tell them to "stand down" and instead told them directly to "stand back and stand by", following by saying "somebody has to do something about the radical left." This is nothing short of endorsing them. In case you're unfamiliar, you can think of the Proud Boys as the right wing antifa, except they actually have a leader, chapters, websites, and organization. So yes, it's important he called them out in a supportive way. They have been celebrating it on social media:
I think Donald J. Trump will never stand for such a horrible repression of free speech. Seems likely he'd skip any debate that tried to impose such a rule.
This is John Harwood's twitter feed: https://twitter.com/JohnJHarwood?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author This is Donald Trump's Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author You have to page down a bit to see this tweet. He tweets a lot but here it is about 3 hours ago.
I remember asking you some time back what you would do if Trump lost the election and refused to leave office. Trump is basically saying that if he loses, the election is fraudulent. Given the poll gap between Biden and Trump right now, it looks like Trump will lose handily. So I ask the question again. What would you do if Trump refused to concede the election and tried to convince people that the election was "rigged" and then refused to leave? It seems like a good time to start thinking about a course of action with just over a month until the election. I don't really expect him to admit that he lost or graciously concede but I do expect him to leave promptly once Biden is sworn into office.
