GAYS, yes homosexuals

I thought it was about time for a thread to talk about gays (since the subject keeps popping up elsewhere).
Personally I see gay/lesbian as pretty much a non issue in my life. I am straight and have a few gay friends and I do not consider it a big deal. What I find odd is that people still call others gay as a sort of insult. If I were attracted to other men I would have no problem admitting it, it just so happens that I am attracted to women.

 

Danr,the faggots,lesbians,& 'transsexuals' have hijacked the term 'gay',which really means 'happy'.

Nothing changes the fact that homosexuality & 'transsexuality' IS an abomination,& that they're heading straight downstairs to the Lake of Fire in Hell!

On the Gay thing...

I think it is Gross and could never go there or experiment myself, but I have no problem if other people want too...

In the past I've worked with and do work with several people who are gay... No big deal.. They seems to be just as good as employees as anyone else, better in some cases and just as good of people...

I don't care what they do with their life as long as they don't cram it down my throat (no pun intented)...

I don't think being gay effects ones charecter or make them less of a person, just a bit different...

My only problem is all the awareness and rights crap... its like they want to stick it on your face and get a comment or rise out of you...


If you want to be gay, swell, do you thing, live your life, but don't force me to read about it, understand it or even care...

Just do your thing...

You don't deserve special treatment or rights, because your different... We are all different somehow...

Its a non-issue to me...they should have all the same rights as anyone else...if they dont...I guess they should work on that...

For instance...if they wish to marry, this doesnt affect my own marriage or what it means to me...so more power to them if they love each other and want to wed...I know a gay couple and they love each other and are devoted, have lived with each other for many years. If a heterosexual couple that doesnt even know each other can wed...if a people can wed and divorce 5 times in as many years, swingers, abusers, couples that dont even like each other can wed...you cant lower the standard of marriage much further than it already has...allow them to wed might encourage monogamy...so more power to them if they want a state issued license that says they are a couple... I dont understand the hate for gays...but some people gotta hate...

As for hate crimes...I am a bit iffy on that...violence against anyone is abhorrent whatever the reason and it all should be equal in the eyes of the law...with HEAVY HEAVY penalties…get these violent cavemen out of society whether they beat on gays, blacks, whites, whatever.

 

Agree, non-issue. I base like/dislike of another person on other criteria, its a non-starter to worry about who they are attracted to. And if we are going to talk about someone being 'in my face' with their life agenda, gays bother me a great deal less than any number of other special interest groups.

 

Drusus makes an excellent point that violence is unnacceptable no matter who is the victim. I think violence against children is the only thing that should be considered worse than other violence. As for the gays, it is a personal beleif of mine that homosexuality is wrong. But its not my place to judge. There are at least 2 gays in my circle of freinds, and I treat them the same as everyone else. I can have a nice cold brew with a gay and not think anything of it. I don't really beleive in gay marriage, but if it was made legal today I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over it. I'm really not strongly one way or the other on this.

 

I find the practice of homosexuality and lesbianism reprehensible. On the same note, what you do behind closed doors is none of my business. However, do not expect me to support the lobby for "rights" or confirm your status as a minority "protected" group. No special rights or treatment. In my opinion it's a choice not a genetic predisposition, and if it is a genetic predisposition then it is a genetic disorder, because of its unnaturallness. That doesn't make one bad or wrong, simply different, yet we see no one working on a cure for it like we do other genetic disorders. This is my opinion only and is not hate, condemning to hell, or otherwise disparaging people. They are after all people and deserve respect as such.

I believe that some people just need somebody that they perceive as different to hate. Gay people are different from most of us so they make good targets just like that Nazis used the Jews just because they were different. I guess that makes gay-bashers the new fascists.
