Ok, we dig at each other from time to time and at times it seems that some of us like the digging the best. However, in the interests of this season of miracles,(Christmas and Hanukka), I would like to suggest that we all write something nice about each other. It could be one line or a top ten list and it could even be on yourself if you wish. I will go first on the next post.

Moen - He comes across as a loving dad and a caring husband. Very important in my book.

I agree, Moen's children and wife are very lucky indeed. Quick Dog sounds like a wonderful father and grandpa as well. He should be VERY proud of his grand-daughter. It makes me proud to know we have women like her serving so selflessly. Old Dan also helped the nation when we needed it so badly (WWII) and his contributions are not forgotten or in vain. These are three great fellows who just happen come to mind now. They're are others...

Oh, you guys are just the best! Imagine a thread where we all just threw compliments at each other. I wonder how long it could last. Anyway, I like your willingness to dive into some pretty heated discussions and still maintain your civility. You guys sound like good neighbors, husbands, and fathers and you are what this country needs more of. Happy Holidays and have a great 2006.

Andy, you are very perceptive. My kids are the most important thing to me. I quit working a few years ago to stay home with them and they are the only thing that could have pulled me out of the work place. Now that they are all in school full-time, I am thinking about going back to work. But I know I’ll never find a job as rewarding as being with my three boys all day. Then again, I’ll be able to buy more coins…Mua ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Old Dan - for what you did with your buffalo nickel collection, I will always respect you. They say actions speak louder than words, and your actions have proven you to be a very admirable character.

Okay, I've been one of the top ten most heated on these boards, so it only seems fair that I give some holiday props to my other nine "competitors" for that esteemed position!

    In no particular order:
    1. OldDan: You make me want to rant and rave a lot, but I totally respect the opinions you hold and the intelligence you bring to the discussions. Despite what anybody else says, you truly do have a lot of knowledge and experience to draw upon and help the rest of us learn from.

    2. Midas: You might just be the most maniacal, nuke-happy person I've ever met, but hey, that kind of variety is the spice of life! Plus, the general discussion forum probably wouldn't even exist if not for opinions like yours. Good work!

    3. Moen: Well, I can't fault you for being a liberal.... I have many good friends whose ideologies sway to the left. However, yours is a side that has always helped me affirm my own positions on issues, and so I say that it's always good to debate against those that you disagree with. Thanks for providing that other position.

    4. Speedy: Even though it still irks me that cleaning coins is such an enormous deal, you and I have had many good moments on CT as well, and I hope that that trend keeps going, no matter our political views or our disagreement on cleaning and TPGs. Thanks for helping out my collection, too!

    5. Andy: You're absolutely right that we dig at each other a lot, and though we may hold similar views, many of them are not as strong as others, and so we all seem like ignoramuses and dolts at times, but I like that fact that you always bring a pretty polite and mostly cool head a lot of the time, and I hope that doesn't change. You'll be a great debater for it!

    6. Craig G: Well Craig, you get a spot on my top ten list for being the one person I haven't got a real truce with yet. However, for what it's worth, I do respect the fact that you hold religion to such a high place in your life. Religious beliefs at their core are normally very morally sound (don't kill, love thy neighbor, etc.) and good ways to live one's life. This shows me that you must have many of these core beliefs at heart. So no matter if we disagree politically or elsewise, I am glad to know that others like yourself still hold the core beliefs that all people ought to abide by dear.

    7. Danr: Okay, so you're not that hot-headed in debates in the forums, but you are still there a lot, and I like your views, though I may disagree at times. Again, like Andy, you seem to have a fairly cool head most of the time, so props for that!

    8. Aiden: Aside from the whole "death to" certain people thing, I've had a lot of respect for you. You are another very knowledgable person, and I'm glad CT has you as a member.

    9. Anybody who is a moderator: Gotta include you guys for letting us carry on this long in our 'discussions.'

10: Everybody else: Happy holidays! (This includes but is not limited to Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, and Deutch Christmas!)

The very worst thing about a thread like this one is that it is very hard to maintain a dislike for any of you “meatheads”. (got to play the part) The time spend here on this forum has given me a reason to get up and do something on more than one morning.

Over the years I have met and become acquainted with many very nice people, and none any better than what we have right here on this forum. To name any of them would be leaving out someone else who deserves just as much credit for making this old world worth living in. So I’m sure you know who you are, and also know of my respect for you and yours, now and into the future.

Oh, and there is just one more thing. When I started liking the dang kids on this forum, I knew it was time to reexamine my position on issues. In the past I have defended, and or promoted a few issues with a fair amount of success (IMO). So now if you are thinking that was good, then don’t be surprised when I take the other side of the argument, and do an even better job of getting my points across.

As a child our family would eat dinner together every night and always had lively discussions, and debates. This forum is like that except there are a wider variety of opinions. We could always disagree, but there is an affection there. Thanks to one and all. Merry Christmas to those who wait in hope of the return of our Saviour, Happy Holidays to all others.

You're all a great bunch of people. ESPECIALLY those I disagree with because it gives me a chance to examine my points-of-view.

But, I love each and every one of you.

That would be a sight to see, if for no other reason than it would prove once and for all, if you were successful at getting the opposite points of view across, that you actually were a master of debate!

Let me give a shout out to OldDan. I mention shout out not because I am hip to the youth culture but because OldDan is um Old.

I feel that your viewpoints are the most important viewpoints here for it was your generation that saw the depression, World War II, the explosion of the civil rights movement, and the economic boom. Your experience is vast whereas we have a generation that is bright but have no idea that the lifestyle that they are living was built upon the blood and sweat of their grandfathers. Your eyes have seen alot, let your voice be heard.

Reminds me of something Charles Lamb said: "Don't introduce me to that man. I can't hate someone I know and I want to keep hating that man.".
