Ya gotta admit that it is funny that the ivy legue right wing think tanks have been telling Pubs to hate Hollywood "types" and now they are feeding them one. It really shows how brainwashed they are.

lot of actors become politicans, look at sSonny Bono...the list is long...its a perfect job for an actor...they are good at pretending and playing a roll...just more partisan garbage...this forum is filled with it on one side or the other...

 

Reagan was a governor first but an actor for much longer and definitely a product of hollywood. And Thompson...

Fred Dalton Thompson is a Washington-Hollywood hybrid: A political insider who was twice-elected to the U.S. Senate, and a screen actor who co-stars in the TV series Law & Order. He grew up in Tennessee and began a law career in 1967. He served as a U.S. Attorney (1969-72) and got involved in national politics with Tennessee's Senator Howard Baker, an association that put senate co-counsel Thompson smack in the middle of the investigation of Watergate and the Nixon White House (1973-74). During the 1970s he worked as a lawyer and lobbyist in Nashville and Washington D.C., then fell into acting when invited to play himself in the movie Marie (1985), a drama based on real events. Thompson was a natural on screen, and during the 1980s he had a remarkable run of authoritarian character roles in top-tier features such as No Way Out (1987, starring Kevin Costner), Days of Thunder (1990, starring Tom Cruise), The Hunt for Red October (1990, starring Sean Connery) and In the Line of Fire (1993, starring Clint Eastwood). He returned to Tennessee and national politics in 1994 and was elected to the U.S. Senate (filling the seat vacated by Al Gore). A Republican, Thompson was re-elected in 1996, but chose not to run for re-election in 2002. He then joined the cast of TV's Law & Order, but he continues to maintain a profile in Washington (he reportedly helped John Roberts get through his 2005 confirmation to the Supreme Court). Thompson's camera-friendly paternalism and conservative ideology have brought comparisons to former actor/president Ronald Reagan, and in 2007 he made the news as a potential candidate for president.

Thompson made a deal in 2006 with ABC News Radio to serve as an on-air commentator, and he occasionally fills in for Paul Harvey.

Do any of you FOFs [Friends of Fred] out there know his position on anything? I ask this because I don't, and it seems highly likely that he is a clone of the other candidates, excluding Ron Paul of course. The GOP seems more interested in finding someone who can be a democrat; and not necessarily expanding the choices. The democrats have the same problem, the candidates are largely a flock of clones.

 

I listened (Lora Ingram) to his position on immigration and it's got some interesting ideas. It boils down to just enforcing the laws on the books now with some minor changes on methods of enforcement. He's not for across the board amnesty, that's for sure...

He talked about large fines for employers and renters who illegal immigrants frequent. Will this mean higher prices for everyday products? Of course it will and so will bio-fuel or hydrogen based fuel. We've got to learn to do our own jobs, feed our own selves, and protect our own people... All by ourselves!

 

Where were you Danr and Moen when people like Michael Moore, Michael J. Fox, Robert Redford and George Clooney entered the political arena? I failed to see you post a thread saying they should stay out of anything. All you did was praise their actions...please explain the difference....

 

Here is the difference, the right wing think tankers have been programming you zombies with anti-Hollywood talk for a generation, and now they make you turn on a dime and adore a Hollywood elitist. All this and you do not even notice that you have manipulated, that to me is pathetic. In the case of the left wing we have never come out against Hollywood.
