If this measure is passed BO will be able to shut down the internet!?!?!?!

Here's a key piece of the larger post:

The Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act, which is being pushed hard by Senator Joe Lieberman, would hand absolute power to the federal government to close down networks, and block incoming Internet traffic from certain countries under a declared national emergency

Sure David but lets not leave this bit out "if the Senate votes for the infamous Internet ‘kill switch’ bill" Now for it to pass how many have to vote for the Bill David??? or are you saying enough members of the Republican party support such a bill?? if so why would that be, perhaps they are hoping that if they return to power they will be able to close down the Internet!

The fact that a measure like this could even make it out to committee scares me. I don't give a flip who supports it, it's wrong!

Never said it was right David but you did say and I quote "If this measure is passed BO will be able to shut down the internet" but in truth it woudnt simply be him would it David it would be all those who voted in favour of the bill and that would have to include Republicans woudnt it. So simply to blame President Obama for this is again wrong
If the bill is passed then any sitting President would be able to shut down the Internet woudnt they

The socialist have sucessfully violated the 10th admendment. They are in the process of destroying the 5th admendment. They have been coming after the 2nd admendment for years. So them trying to destroy the 1st admendment should come as no surprise.

Talk about nitpicking! I'll go slow here....anything that would give any single person this power is dead wrong. If this measure is passed now then would it not be BO would wields the control? let me say this again, in case you ignored it the first time around- I don't care if it's dems or repubs responsible for it, it's wrong. Nothing partisan on my part...wrong is wrong. so, that being said, please show me where I was wrong in the statement you quoted. Show me.

Whats your problem here David you are the one who said that President Obama would be able to shut down the Internet Yet failed to Mention that it would take more than simply him to do it!
You made no Mention of anyone other than President Obama in your opening post firmly casting him in the role of villain
Talk about nit picking try reading your own posts.

Please read the article I linked to in the original post. BO would have sole authority to pull the plug...he will be able to exercise this power on a whim. I don't see how you could possibly interpret this any other way. Perhaps you can tell us who, other than BO, would wield this power once this measure is approved?

Allow me to quote directly from the Article David the relevent bit you left out

"the establishment is quietly preparing the framework that will allow Obama, or indeed any President who follows him, to bring down a technological iron curtain that will give the government a foot in the door on seizing complete control over the Internet"

Also do try to read what I actualy said in my opening post! I have not mentioned anywere that He WOUDNT have the power have I David? NO of course I havn't because I take the time to actualy read the articles and not simply attack as is your policy

C'mon Steve, I know you aren't that dense, you are badgering me. Let me make this as simple as I can for you. Substitute "BO" with any other name (regardless of party affiliation) and it's still too much power for one to have. You are trying to make my post an anti-BO message when, in fact, it is not. You can "fill in the blank" with any name, it's too much power to grant. I don't know what else I can say to make you understand.

David there was no Badgering, I simply pointed out that it is not He who is passing the law but your Law makers (It would take Dems & Reps to pass it) and He woudnt be the only benificiary from such a Law, you asked who else I simply told you. Lets take it one step further David the law is passed President Obama steps down/is assasinated/dies in Office then who can use it? Well it is then Biden and if you take VP Biden out as well and it goes down the chain of command.
Worst of all the decision to impliment such a policy would not in all probarbility originate from the top but from one of the many agencies within the gobverment with the President been persuaded to act in the National Interest (not that far fetched).
I am not trying to make your post out to be a anti Obama post at all David unfortunatly your oppening post did that for me.
I have also never stated that I agree with the law if it were to be passed, quite the opposit.

You don't have to point out who passes the law & who gets the powers resulting from the passage, that part is obvious. Playing "what if" games doesn't accomplish anything either. The players do not matter, it's the ceding of this amount of power- no matter who is granted the power- that I have an issue with.

Why not David you do it all the time with your speculations, is no one else allowed to do so? So if you only have the issue with the granting of such power why did you make it a point of saying that President Obama would be able to shut down the Internet? You placed the focus squarley on him once again even though you know full well it is not he who the focus should be on but as stated those who will vote for or against it.

Davey highlighting an Alex Jones info fact? You might wanna breeze though Alex's views on 911. I guess you're picking and choosing what you want fit into your world of distortion. I thought Alex was a wacky "truther"? Now you're referencing him to make your points? Hypocrisy knows no bounds in the eyes of the right...I guess.

Stujoe, Your right the 'Patriot' Act essentially gutted the Constitution, I voted for Bush2 but could never forgive him for passing that Act, in a time of national crises, when everyone just assumed it was needed, and no one bothered to read it. Our true freedom went out the window in my opinion.
