I just had a piece go across my screen saying the Fox News Christmas tree was intentionally set ablaze this morning........ I would truly like to see one of our quiet liberal friends log on and try to convince me that the left is the only all inclusive and all caring affiliation in our nation today. Jesus, burning down a Christmas tree?... Oh I am sorry. That was offensive wasn't it? A Holiday tree. Not a damned bit of common courtesy and nothing sacred to you people....... Damned bunch of hypocritical thugs. Come on guys... You pandered over protesters burning down hard working Americans places of business. Go ahead. Show yourselves and defend this criminal act.... Every one of you should be hanging your heads in shame.

Correction . . . political power and hypocrisy are both sacred to them.

Strange, isn't it, that these characters will complain about schoolchildren being emotionally traumatized by homework corrected in red pen, and then applaud the looting and burning of a generations old local business.

    "Screwed-up" doesn't begin to described their priorities . . .

    Sad. Very sad.

This man's prior record indicates a history of substance abuse. He needs help and I hope the good people of New York give it to him. I'm glad there were no injuries reported. Many people could have been hurt or killed. I'm happy there are plans to rebuild the tree.

Fox News security spotted the suspect, later identified as Craig Tamanaha, climbing the 50-foot-tall tree at the center of Fox Square just after midnight. The Sixth Avenue and 48th Street location is in the heart of Midtown.

Tamanaha, 49, had three prior arrests: two for drug possession and one for public intoxication. He was said to be homeless with a last known address in Brooklyn.

You and I will likely never get a response from our leftist friends But… if one crawls out, they will surely have some good explanation for this person’s actions, you know, “it was out of desperation “. The really sad thing is, due to the leftist bail policies of NY and increasingly more Democratic run cities, this individual will be out within hours.

First off, I haven't heard a thing about political motivations of the arsonist. Why do you assume a liberal did this rather than someone who just likes fire? In fact, hearing from @CoinOKC above that he was homeless rather supports the idea he is mentally ill. The homeless aren't generally known for the political activism either.

So I guess I've been quiet because I don't really care, it's just a tree. I'm sure Fox News producers are ecstatic it happened though as it will make great film for the annual "War on Christmas" marathon they put on.

If it was politically motivated, cool, that guy sucks. I would hope he is charged with some form of terrorism and put in jail of that were the case. In any situation, I'm glad nobody was hurt.

Ope, there it is. From a New York Post article a statement by the guy's dad:

I hear you, Gene.... And as much as I would truly like to believe that this was simply the act of a troubled mind, I have a difficult time reconciling that when there is so much vile hatred spewed forth about the news agency. I was not a proponent of the divisive way that Trump spoke and echoed as much in thread after thread here. Thing is though, the hatred aimed at the right comes from all directions. It is a crossfire of massive proportions. Fox news does a pretty decent job of reporting the news. They have a handful of opinion pundits that do stir the pot, however this is true of any 24 hour news agency. Yet, Fox is repeatedly branded as some center of divisiveness.... And my assumption here is that the perpetrator was likely exposed to that. You would have to be under a rock not to be. Heck, even my home page on my laptop, center page is a daily slam at Fox news. There's just a wee but too much coincidence here to call this a random act in my mind...... All this hate speech has to stop and until it does, this will be the legacy that this generation will leave. Not one to be very proud of, is it?

Wonder who paid him do pull that stunt.

people don’t just burn Christmas trees for no reason. A lifelong criminal attacking Conservatism broadly o_O

Was he paid? That’s one motivation. I also see why a lifelong criminal and POS would not like Republicans who actually try to shut down crime.

Being “not all there” doesn’t make someone immune from taking violent political action. Same with the parade SUV loser. Posted anti white rhetoric, while ALSO being an unstable loser.

just 4 years or so ago we had some kook shooting Republican baseball players because he wanted Sanders style healthcare o_O

one side of the isle gets passes for their insanity, because “their heart is in the right place”, while anyone remotely conservative is automatically assumed to be looking for destruction and violence. I really can’t think of another way to explain the double standard the media plays. They have sympathies for people like this tree burner.

You're right, it could have played a factor. It's also possible he was so mentally gone he didn't know he was at the Fox News plaza. But to the rest of your point, I also believe it needs to stop on both sides, as I have the opposite experience (hearing left-leaning stations slammed constantly). Can we just do away with opinion pundits entirely? Who are they helping?

One thing that confused me from the beginning, why did he climb the tree to burn it?

CNN and MSNBC should be the ones we leave. Everyone else is bearable in comparison.

There is nothing wrong with having opinion pundits (left, right, or center). The problem is all the "news sources" and "journalists" that are actually opinion but pretend they are telling facts.

@Mopar Dude they can go lower. Did you see the mayor of Chicago blame businesses for rising crime? Apparently the businesses aren't hiring enough security and making it too tempting to steal.

"We also got to push retailers. Some of the retailers downtown and [on] Michigan Avenue, I will tell you, I'm disappointed that they are not doing more to take safety and make it a priority. For example, we still have retailers that won't institute plans like having security officers in their stores, making sure that they've got cameras that are actually operational, locking up their merchandise at night. Chaining high-end bags, these purses seem to be something that is attracting a lot of attention on these organized retail theft units," Lightfoot said.
