When you think about it, we're doing the pig species a favor by eating them. If people didn't eat pigs, there wouldn't be any pigs because nobody would have any incentive to keep the species alive except for a few in zoos. Who's going to spend money to keep pigs around if not for food?
Those are the animals that you city boys and girls eat when you buy your meat at the Super Markets. Mine has never looked like that, but when they are being cooked, it all looks alike.
I think the vegans are the cruel ones. They would permit the mass extinction of farm animals domesticated for thousands of years. That would be a crime against humanity and the animal kingdom, and a moral outrage!
One must remember that even the Idaho spud under the basement stairs has a subtle cunning when compared to a Poland China or Hampshire sow...
^^^ No, animal fights for profit are disgusting. I hope Vick gets canned, goes to jail, and never plays football again.
Things often have to die for other things to eat. Whether it be a tiger eating an antelope or an insect eating a plant. Things should not have to die in order for people to gamble.
I like having you here, Danr. I disagree with about 99% of the way you see the world but you do give me a look at the mind of someone I would not normally want to associate with in any way in real life.
Danr, would you believe that we're pretty much self sufficient here. We butcher most of our own meat and grow most of our own veggies... Very lucky, the best place to raise kids in the world
Cartoon pigs aside, there are evolutionary theories that our rise in brain power came from a switch to a meat-rich diet and that early hominids and early man ate a varied diet including meat. You don't need the teeth of a lion when you have developed other traits (standing upright, opposable thumbs, intelligence) to catch and kill your prey.
And why is olddan allowed to murder his old cow??? Seriously though, animal fighting is terrible. As for farms, when I'm eating a steak I hope that the cow it came from was treated as humanly as possible. I haven't really done any research on the subject though, so I don't really know how they are treated at these factory farms you speak of. I know that on my uncle's farm and other ones around here it looks like the cows have a pretty nice life.
Danr, im sorry but your'e wrong, and about 99% of america would agree. Pit bull fighting is for FUN AND GAMBELING!!!!! Its completly immorral!!! Where as with factory farms, granted, they are cruel, are our way to LIVE. So if factory farming is cruel, next are you going to say that if someone is fishing, and a fish slowwows a lure, and gets his guts messed up, that the fisherman should have his license stripped? Or if a hunter misses the vitals of a deer, and has to make a finishing blow when he finally finds the wounded animal, that he too should be stripped of a license?
