Hillary is partying down in Colombia proving that she can chug 'em just like the fellows half her age. You go, party-girl....!
Hillary Clinton parties in Colombia: Photos of dancing, beer-slugging secretary of state cause stir

    April 16, 2012

Over the weekend, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cut loose during her trip to the Summit of the Americas in Colombia, partying at a local club early Sunday morning.

And while the outing may be fairly typical of visitors to Latin American countries, photos showing Clinton dancing and throwing back a bottle of beer proved too irresistible for the tabloid press.

According to the New York Post, Clinton arrived at Cartagena's Cafe Havana with a dozen female aides just after midnight.

"Clinton quickly proved she's just a regular gal when it comes to drinking," the Post reported. "She eschewed a glass and sucked down her Aguila pilsener cerveza straight from the bottle."

According to a local paper cited by TMZ, Clinton and her party "ordered a dozen beers, two glasses of whiskey and bottles of water."

TMZ dubbed her the "Secretary of PARTYING." Sadly, Clinton's impromptu soiree lasted just half an hour.
The photo (below) landed on the Post's front page. The headline: "SWILLARY."

"Front page picture of 'Swillary' Clinton is brutally unfair," Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary under George W. Bush and current CNN analyst, wrote on Twitter. "She drank a beer at a summit meeting event. So what?"

London's Telegraph latched onto the photos, too. "Is Hillary Clinton becoming an embarrassment as Secretary of State?" the paper's Niles Gardner asked in a blog post.

"Hillary Clinton will be the inspiration for my return to salsa this week," Salon's Irin Carmon tweeted.

Who does she have to impress at this point in her career? Certainly not the ranks of the Right-wing.

Come now, you could say that about 99.9% of the politicians on the planet. But, I agree; she's not impressing anyone at all.

Drinking an alcoholic beverage is deemed acceptable in America, so that can't be the issue. Is it because she didn't use a glass? Drinking a beer straight from the bottle, instead of pooring it into a glass, must be shocking to some... but my attitude is why dirty a glass when you don't have to? Or is it that she danced a bit? Or is it that she did those things in a foreign country?

I'm guessing that the issue some people are having is that her behavior in the images may indicate a lack of proper etiquette. Some must view it as unseemly to see images of the SoS drinking out of a bottle and dancing. Personally, I hate the pomp and circumstance of government and high society, it's all so stiff and formal and fake.

But eh, at least she isn't snorting a line of coke off a dead hooker or shooting any of her friends in the face. I don't really like those things either.

Why would anyone have an issue with this? Old Sniper-Fire is throwing back a few brewskis in Cartagena and shaking her tail feather. Now, as long as she's not ordering prostitutes... but even then who cares? I'm an advocate of legalized prostitution so perhaps the whole Secret Service fiasco in Colombia will bring that issue to light (although it didn't work for Eliot Spitzer). In the meantime, party on, Clinton! A word to the wise, Hill. If go into the bathroom to powder your nose, make sure it's just mascara powder. We don't want you coming back to us with half a brain ... er... really, folks I didn't mean that as a jab.

I noticed that you didn't bother posting a link to the story. Blog? RW Rag? OP Ed piece? Or something just as silly?

I quoted Yahoo.com, not the NY Post. Besides, it's all over the internet so do a Google search. It's even on the liberal, toilet-paper news sites so give it a whirl. Does it matter who reports the story as long as it is fully reported? I mean, the girl knows how to par-taaaay! Look, she got away from Bill for a few days and wanted to bang it up a bit. Cut her some slack! And, quit attacking the messenger.

I have no problem with her partying.

Who cares if it's a blog? The blogger quoted the NY Post, TMZ, CNN and the London Telegraph. Nothing wrong with that. Look it up yourself. The facts are legitimate. You can find the same facts on The Guardian, The Huffington Post and MSNBC.

I have no problem with the facts. It is more the RW take on those facts that is typically negative that I roll my eyes at. As usual, they come off as desperate and rife with phony indignation. Manufacturing an issue to talk about isn't nearly as interesting as actually having an issue to talk about I guess.

Columbia. Isn't that where White House Secret Service was using hookers and then not paying for it. Was Hillary down there when this happened. Was she at the same hotel. Was she part of it. Who paid for the drinks. Was it out of tax payers money. Something smells rotton in Columbia and I think it is Hillary.

It all happened before any U.S. officials arrived. Nice try though.

I'm just ashamed she didn't do any body shots off some hot woman's abdomen or engage in any triple-kisses with the other women there.

    Bill woulda! ;):D

...then he would swear he didn't do it...the left would defend him....he'd admit he lied...the left continue to defend him.
I think Bill should come to John Edwards defense, they seem to be cut from the same cloth.

You mean the left will still like him, not defend him. There is a difference there that righties tend to be blind to.

Clinton's popularity is still high among lefties because no real harm was done to his marraige, and his lies were seen as the result of the persecution of his personal weakness for sex. Yes, that weakness led to illegal activity, and was rightfully prosecuted, but in general it's seen as a witch-hunt against someone who enjoyed sex. (see the Starr Report)

Furthermore, his marraige is seen as one that is more a matter of political convenience than one based on the purity of love. Hillary wasn't amused by the scandals, or of his numerous indiscretions over the course of their marriage, but she is seen as accepting those faults in him. She is seen as putting a priority on the political benefits of remaining in the marriage.

Edwards, however, is as you put it "cut from the same cloth" as Gingrich. Both essentially abandoned their wives during the most difficult of times in their wives lives. They are both seen as callous and indifferent to the physical suffering their wives endured.

I think both Clinton and Gingrich were reared and steeped deeply in the Southern political traditions. Basically the tenet is that if you think you can get away with something, do it!
