We certainly dont know what actions he has taken in regard to his beliefs as he decided not to elaborate though it seems he teaches people to 'think right' in regard to this issue. In my opinion, a person who advocates racist actions is a racist...Hilter was a racist when he wrote Mein Kampf...and then when he acted on his racism...he was still a racist...this is in no way a grey area however hard one tries to make it.

 

Words? No. Thought must, by definition, preceed action. But while thought is a necessary precondition for action, not all thoughts result in action, and neither do words. I guess it depends on how much you value freedom of speech and of thought. I've seen quotes here and elsewhere from people something to the effect that " I might not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." Perhaps some of them weren't telling the truth. Perhaps freedom of thought only applies when people have thoughts that you find agreeable, or at least tolerable.

What I suspect is going on here is that someone said something offensive, so they must be branded with the "R" word. Such an outrage cannot go unpunished! I just think the reaction is overblown considering the forum and format.

you use hyperbole and attribute motives for punishment that was never asked for...I did not ask for him to be banned nor did I ask for his posts to be edited...I asked for an explination as to why he thinks people who marry outside their race should be killed...he didnt offer one...the thread was lock...I dropped it...bonedigger started this thread...was I just to remain silent as he posted misinformation and defended dan? He has a right to defend him but I dont have a right to say how I feel about it?

I could use your transparent tactic and ask you why you want to rob me of my freedom of speech and thought by making it seem like something I have said or thought is wrong? Do you hate freedom? Cetainly I can call for the death of all jews in your world and not be in any wyas a racist as long as I say it on the internet and dont got out and start throwing them in ovens...

Nobody here said he cant spout off racist remarks (though a forum is privately owned, they can allow or disallow whatever they want)...obviously he is free to do that...as others are free to call him a racist...you wouldnt deny someone their right to say whatever they want I assume...

again...confuse it all you want...racist words and beliefs are still racist...and where you say them has no bearing...one the street corner, on the internet, publish in books, in the class room...where it is said or done doesnt matter at all...racism is racism...and even though you have your own persona definition of what racism is, doesnt change the ACTUAL definition of what it is...

A person who writes racist words...like hitler...was racist when he wrote them...I guess what you are sayig is when Hitler spoke of killing jews he wasnt racist...only when he started killing them did he become a racist...if thats your personal definition of racism, more power to you but that is not the real definition of it...

 

Cloudsweeper said it most eloquently. My thoughts exactly. His ability to put thoughts to pen is indeed magnificent. I used to be that way, but no longer. Apparently I lost much needed blood for a few long minutes along with an L5 vertebra & my little finger on an operating table in Germany (service connected of course) and the wiring connection between my mind and hands just plain freezes up at times. Thank goodness for spell-check and other grammatical helpers or I'd be in real trouble communication wise. I'm not crying asking for sympathy or anything but I feel there is a case of "Thin Skin" going around. These are my final words on the matter (maybe).

 

No you have not asked for any of that and all credit to you for it, but Dan stated quite clearly he was not going to answer your questions, so why do you continue to persist in asking? Has he not got the right to refuse to reply?

 

I agree Bonedigger...it seems people get all offended when you call a person who advocates the killing of people who marry another race, a racist and starts a thread with many posts trying in vain to justify why he isnt a racist...thin skinned ideed.

I certainly am far less offended as curious...as for dan...he is not ashamed of his beliefs and what he said so discussing it here shouldnt be a problem...he probably enjoys the attention. I dont mind dropping it though I just dont know if someone justifying his remarks should go unanswered.

Hold on there Double-Bubble, the thread was simply a poll based on Moen's strange association of the use of surveillance cameras and interracial marriage followed by OldDans honest answer. You were the one who started screaming about Dan indirectly or directly aiming his opinion about interracial marriage at you and were part of the reason the initial thread was locked.

There are plenty in the USA who would call your marriage NOT an interracial one and to me it doesn't matter one iota or make a hill of beans. To many interracial marriage means one thing -- Black and White, therefore you don't even qualify.

Now, having said that, it's neither an honor or a shame it's just your life? So, the final interpretation of what Dan said upset you. You can put him on ignore. You've said you don't want his post edited or him banned but you do want him to explain why he feels the way he does, well you might not like his answer. In doing so he might get banned and at a minimum his answer edited. People say crazy things daily like they wish all Republicasn or Democrats should be executed, etc., daily. It means nothing just idle banter. Maybe inside you want him to radically change and say (In His Opinion) that he's wrong and beg for your forgiveness along with wearing some sort of signature label like "I'm A Filthy Racist"

Dru, all I see is a happily married fellow who wears his emotions on his sleeve. You a good guy asnd will be a great dad. Those are the the important things which really matter...

 

reread this thread...I didnt mention dan until you did..I simply stated what I felt about people who say such things...and didnt start the thread...the original one was locked and I was going to leave it at that.

I have not asked him to explain since the thread was locked and I was only asking him to explain, honestly, to better understand what made him a racist...

I change it from time to time when I think of something new or hear something I like or see a profound bumper sticker. The biggest problem is figuring out which old one to rid myself of. Rap seemed like the obvious choice since not so many of us here are attached to that genre. Keep lookin' you never know when I'll get a spark. dd:

3. You assume correctly.
4. The meaning of words changes all the time. Your's is out of date by several decades.
5. Killing Jews was racist. Writing a bad book in prison was the expressions of a madman. If it had been treated as such, the racism would never have taken place.

Is this the new math? More people think it's okay, but nobody is saying that this is a liberal dominated forum. Does this mean that liberals are uncomfortable being the majority if even only a few people disagree with them? Seems like a recipe for dictatorship. Certainly isn't freedom of thought.
