    From your linked story
“This is not an administration proposal," White House spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki said. "This is not a bill supported by the administration. This was an early working draft proposal that was never formally circulated within the administration, does not taken into account the advice of the president’s senior advisers, economic team or Cabinet officials, and does not represent the views of the president.”

But there again the idea was floated around over here a few years back as well and nothing came of it

One of the good things about the House being controlled by a different party than the Whitehouse is that stupid crap like that won't see the light of day.

Whether it is by the mile or by the gallon, they are going to get their taxes. But, the tracking is the alarming part.

The Cons in the House just passed a tax H.R. 3 that taxes employers health plans if that health plan happens to cover, not provide, just cover abortions. They could provide no abortions at all to any employee but just the fact that the employees have to coverage to a perfectly legal safe medical procedure is enough to tax them. In other words, all tax deductions, credits or other benefits for the cost of health insurance, when that insurance includes under its plan coverage for abortion. Now that is a tax small government loving Republicans can endorse.

You say "po-tay-to", I say "po-tah-to". You say "medical procedure", I say "homicide".

I think that the Supreme Court sides with me on this one. Maybe your pastor thinks otherwise but he/she also believes in mystical ghosts. I'll stick with the guys with the impressive legal credentials.

My state (Michigan) is Republican controlled and recently lowered taxes on corporations and big business, and raised taxes on seniors and the poorest of the poor to help offset it. One man wrote in to our local paper and said this is actually good for poor people ...that eventually they'll be paying less taxes... someday ...(laughs)... It's that kind of logic that makes me wonder if all republicans are insane ...or just half of them... (laughs)

The "trickle-down" theory of Ronald Reagon's is a joke... saying rich people spend that extra money to create jobs is at best, misguided. They didn't get rich by spending money, they used every opportunity to increase their wealth. Give money to a rich person and it's going into his pocket. Give money to poor people and they spend it immediately, helping the economy grow. It's not rocket science.

I always like to ask that if trickle down works so well, shouldn't we be swimming in jobs after 10 years of tax breaks for the wealthy and the lowest tax rates since the 1950's? Then I hear this single cricket noise and get no answers.

Oh yeah, and CEO salaries increased 11% last year. How much did yours increase?

The same argument could be made for welfare & other entitlements as well. If handouts were effective, why is there still poverty?

I hate using Obama-logic but couldn't it be argued that if the tax cuts weren't introduced there'd be no telling how many fewer jobs would exist today?

Nope. Cant tell ya. But did I lie? Or was I just wrong? There's a difference. David is just a liar. And you know it.

I've seen what you consider "proof" and it certainly isn't ever enough to be calling people liars.

Those were the dates you invented to show that WWII lasted "less than three years".

I couldn't care less what you think or say about me. I hold you & your opinions in very low regard...in fact, you rank right down there with tomc in my book.

The trickle down theory is not a joke, but it is also not a guarantee. Why does every issue that arises around here have to be supported by the extreme. You are right, give money to a rich person and it will go into his pocket unless he knows he can use that money to make more money. Trickle down economics is not the solution to every problem as the radical right would have you believe but it does have merit in some situations despite the rhetoric to the contrary offered by the radical left.

See my thread on Michigan's new Law? Republicans here have TOTAL control at the moment. They can dismiss anyone they want from schools (Administration and Boards), townships (any elected official), cities (mayor, board, etc.), etc. & the Governor can then replace them all with people of his choosing. You're talking taxes, I'm talking complete take-over by one party... do I win? (laughs)
