Dang, David, I'm gone for an ice age and come back to find out you're still wrong. Somehow, I'm not surprised.

The White House continued its embrace of the Occupy Wall Street protests on Sunday, using the strongest terms yet to identify President Barack Obama with the growing movement.

Apparently I'll have to quote myself. From two weeks ago.

Has that changed folks? Are people still Pi$$ed off?
Seems they are. It seems to have grown exponentially. It seems to have gone global.
    Just like the TeaParty. NOT!

So call them the Fleaparty. Poke fun at them. Laugh all you want I say.

It seems violence has already broken out. Seems in the U.S. it has been by the police.
Worldwide it seems to have gotten ugly in Italy.

I can't see why President Obama would endorse them. It's under his admistration. As far as I can see the "flea baggers" are not attacking any political group. Seems it just comes with the territory.

    Again,

Just a lot of Pi$$ed off people and I don't think it's going to magically disappear.

I think these protests are a great demonstration of what America is all about. It has been two months I think now which shows awesome dedication to their cause and I love that the crowd is so diverse. I agree with a lot of what they talk about and I don't think it's fair that some of the peaceful people are getting sprayed or arrested. Unfortunately I don't know if their efforts will really change much.

Except they didn't. The pictures of people defecating on police cars were from a protest in 2007. It hasn't happened during the OWS protests, but like the insistence that all the protesters are just out of work hippies who need to take a bath is all the right wing has to use. It is disinformation. Nothing more.

How interesting, but the "clock towers" supposedly from Portland don't match. Not only that, but the " defecating on police cars" picture is another picture all together. See http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/...h-as-shocking-pictures-show-one-demonstr.html. No "clock tower" there.

Do you have a link that places the defecating picture in perspective? Are there any pictures or videos that support this happened when it happened. The picture itself is useless. It could have been taken any where and any time.

Try talking to Stefan Jeremiah New York documentary photographers. Stefan is represented by Bear Witness Pictures - 646 642 2341. However, I assume that he was unaware that he was required to take one including corresponding cityscape also.

Thanks. In a world of Photoshop I tend to take pictures with a couple of pounds of salt. I found his article about the occurrence and it was interesting. He makes a particular point of it not representing all, or a significant portion, of the protesters. It is sad that one idiot becomes the poster child for the protest when you can't be sure if he was actually a part of the protests.

The article about it is here:

He has his sources. He knows all about the secret meetings between Obama and high-ranking leaders of Occupy, once at a CIA safe house near Roswell, NM, and twice at a secret villa owned by George Soros in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. His advisors are split on this, some even going to far as to try to get him an invite to the next Koch Bros soiree in the hope of giving him some cover if word of his clandestine meetings with the unwashed anarchists ever comes out. And it will, sooner or later. This could be a real problem for him.

I am totally amazed at the lack of understanding and the ignorance represented on this thread. The OWS bunch and the Tea Party cannot even be compared. The Tea Party is made up of individuals like me who believe in conservative principles: personal responsibility, less government intrusion in our private lives, and accountability in our politicians. And what does this OWS stand for? Lets see. More Marxism, legalized drugs, take money from those who've earned it to give to those who haven't, breaking laws, shouting down anyone who tries to engage them in dialog just because they don't agree, etc., etc. You don't like the Tea Party and what it stands for. Fine. That's your right. I fought in two wars in order for you to have that right. But don't try to shut down those of us who have an opposing opinion. And, if you are going to make accusations, back them up. FOX News hard news shows like FOX Report with Shepard Smith or Special Report with Bret Baer, are the most fair and honest news shows on any network. If you try to compare shows like O'Reilly's (who is one of the best IMHO) and Hannity's, these are opinion shows. So compare them to opinion shows on the other networks. MSNBC's Chris Matthews is really unbiased???? Mr. "I get a tingle up my leg every time O'bama gives a speech" ? Give me a break. If you don't agree with O'Reilly it's one thing. But at least he does present opposing sides on his show. Does Matthew's? No there is no comparing the Tea Party to the OWS bunch or FOX News to MSNBC. The Tea Party believes in the Constitution and the principles of the Founding Fathers. When the Tea Party has a rally it's peaceful and respectful. When the Tea Party leaves an area it's cleaner then when they first arrived (which brings up the question of who is more environmentally conscious, but that can wait for another post). How many Tea Party activitists have been arrested? And how many OWS bunch? What we want can't be further from what the OWS protesters want. One last thing. Do you really think that the Republicans are willing to bankrupt this country in order to elect one man? And the Democrats are not willing to leave the border unprotected in order to allow more potential Democratic voters into the country? Some of the people who have posted to this thread are some of the most naive I've ever come across.

Welcome to the forum and perhaps you should include yourself amigo.

Are you Tea Party perhaps? If so please explain how the Tea Party is going to address and fix the multitudes of issues. Seriously.
The "smaller government" is a great point to argue. The biggest problem I have with the Tea Party is really what are the solutions?
How will we keep our infrastructure for example?

How will roads and bridges be maintained? Who will put out fires? Who will respond to a robbery?
These are, after all, a big part of the budget in any commumity. They are socialist, they are neccesary.

How about Social Security? Heck, I'll probably never get it at the rate we're going so how about this? Every Tea Partier getting Social Security just gives it up voluntarily. Sounds fair to me and eliminates big government.

I won't waste too much time on the the Fox thing here. O'Reilly. Give me a break. He has to cut the mike of others to make his extremely biased point. Nuff said there.

Now as you stated the Tea Party and OWS should not be compared. You may actually be right on this one. To an extent.

The Tea Party rallies lasted a few hours. They tended to be MUCH smaller. I don't recall ANY violence by the police even though guns were reported at Tea Party rallies. I don't recall any violince by the mainly decrepid Tea Partiers either.

On the other hand there are comparisons. If you bother to read this entire thread you just might see a point I've made here.
The Tea Partiers have a cause. A lot of them really can't explain it but they do.
The OWS crowd can be compared to that I suppose.

The BIG difference is that the OWS crowd has been going for a month. They have NOT been violent but have had violence inflicted upon them. Was Fox reporting this when it started? Fair and balanced and all? NOPE.

I fear it could turn violent honestly and that's a shame. Bigger movement, more people.

    Finally.
I would have quoted your whole thread but the lack of paragraphs and continuity restrained me. So the OWS movement is about "More Marxism, legalized drugs, take money from those who've earned it to give to those who haven't, breaking laws, shouting down anyone who tries to engage them in dialog just because they don't agree, etc., etc."?

That's what you said. I've seen many stupid statements made on this forum. Your's is one of them. Please cite your sources for the hogwash.

Infrastructure is the least of the government's problems although it does note repairs. SS in the easiest to fix. When implemented, the average age was about 60 and you retired at 65. Now the average age is 80 and you retire at, uhmmm, 65!?!?! I think there is a logical solution there. Just don't change it for the 62 year olds.

What you missed in there was welfare, medicare, medicaid, etc. They totaled 3/8 of the budget (the last year we had a budget) and is the fastest growing part of the budget. Oh and Obamacare has not even really kicked in yet - don't even pipe dream that it will cut health costs. I would think that would also generate an obvious solutions. All of this is just what the Tea Party wants and the exact opposite of OWS.

Without trying to argue with someone who seems to know nothing about either movement, I will just say the biggest difference between the two groups is that one wants to work within the system while the other wants to tear it down. Just in case you don't know which is which: the Tea Party wants the former. There was a poll done on the OWS protesters by I think the Wall Street Journal. Over 30% said they wanted to end capitalism and replace it with socialism/communism and were willing to resort to violence to reach their ends. Man, that sounds like the two groups want the same thing. BTW, how's that socialism thing working out in Europe?

Give me a break. Now you want to attack the messenger I suppose.

Again your ignorance shows. One particular Tea Party rally was nearly 1 mil in size. Compared to???

Again with the personal attacks. So typical. At least we weren't blasted out of our minds on drugs. And yes, there are several videos of OWS protesters using/smoking drugs

Yet another personal attack. It seems anyone who disagrees with your point of view is "stupid" or "decrepid"

Do you have any idea how much money the government collects in taxes for roads and highways? The problem is that the big spending Democrats keep raiding these pots for social programs designed to garner more votes for their side. This stupid "Jobs Bill" that Obama keeps touting is just another stimulus to be paid to his cronies, i.e., Solindra. The amount of money his government wasted just on this one loan could have paid for the police and fireman he says he wants to save. Hogwash, to use your term.

I know you or someone else here will come back with more personal attacks, so I'll stop here. The American people will decide come this next election. I can only hope and pray most have the common sense to see what this movement is about; to see what O'bama has done to this country; and to vote for a Republican President and Congress to try to right this ship. If you want to have a civil dialog, we can discuss what we each thinks will work and what each see as destructive. I doubt I will convince you and I'm fairly certain you will never convince me, but, hey, we can try.

I sincerely thank you for that but you know what? I thank this guy a lot more.

I have no problem with that, but I'm not asking for your gratitude. I did my service out of love for my country. BTW, this "Marine" sure looks like he wants to taunt the police and cause trouble. But perhaps I'm wrong.

This isn't Europe now is it. Wall Street Journal vs. OWS? Gee, that could be a bit biased now couldn't it. Show me some stats, show me something real.

No, I'm basically opposed to violence. I was just stating the obvious. Can you deny that?

I'm afraid your (ignorance - is this name calling?) is glaring. Never happened and if it did PLEASE prove it. You can't.

PLEASE explain the personal attacks. How did I personally attack you? Please explain SO TYPICAL. I HATE blanket statemensts. Seems you're good at them.

You come in here and really reach. Please tell me where I have called you, or anyone else, stupid or decrepid personally. Ideas I will attack. Rarely individuals. You have not been attacked but you sure want to present it that way. Doesn't work.

I'd love to talk to you JWH but if anything you read is taken as a "personal attack" it's really a huge waste of time now isn't it?
