All it says is bring photo ID. I think the word "required" is a bit of a stretch. If you get arrested, it is kind of a good idea to have a photo ID to prove who you are and any protest seems like a pretty good opportunity for arrest.

On the other hand, the faux issue of voter fraud that disenfranchises 100's of thousands of people by design for no other reason than to suppress voter turn out as more than one Right-winger has admitted.

If this is all you can come up with to point out irony, I direct you to Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada, the Supreme Court upheld state laws requiring citizens to reveal their identity when officers have reasonable suspicion to believe criminal activity may be taking place. Commonly known as "stop-and-identify" statutes, these laws permit police to arrest criminal suspects who refuse to identify themselves.

As of 2012, 24 states had stop-and-identify laws. Regardless of your state's law, keep in mind that police can never compel you to identify yourself without reasonable suspicion to believe you're involved in illegal activity.

Civil disobedience can certainly be considered an illegal activity if the local law enforcement officials decide that it is.

I do forgive your ignorance. After all, you are referencing a Right-wing media source so the chances of the information not being pure bullshit are pretty slim.

So let me get this straight. You are alright with arresting people walking the streets without ID, but object to requiring them to have ID to vote? OMG!!

"Prove who you are"? Really? Why should anyone have to "prove who they are"? Come on, Little Joe, why should anyone have to "prove who they are" when they get arrested? Or apply for a job? Or obtain a license to drive? Or cash a check? Or vote? Or...?

Sorry, but I will never understand your words. That is what you said. Are you trying to take them back now?

I'm glad you asked. Nobody! Nobody should have to show ID. It is one of the first signs of a police state. Why are you FOR a police state? Papers please!

Using your logic, why should anyone show ID for anything? Say, purchasing a firearm for example?

So you can't win the argument for showing ID's to vote so you change the topic to showing ID to buy guns. Fine! You can concede that argument and we can move onto guns if you want to change topics. What makes you think you have to show an ID at a gun show anyway? Are you for or against showing an ID to buy a gun?

BTW When do you register months in advance to buy a gun the way you have to register in advance to vote? Apples and oranges. When was the last time my vote was carried into a liquor store to rob it? When was my vote last used to shoot up a classroom full of 6 and 7-year olds? When has my vote ever been used to shoot a teenager for loud music, or wearing a hoodie, or to kill someone for texting their daughter in a movie theater? Show an ID or not showing an ID will not prevent these things. Stricter gun laws will.

Again, where does it say that ID is "required"?

Are you making the argument that we either don't show an ID for anything or we show an ID for everything?

You realize that I'm not talking about the people who choose to use their firearms irresponsibly, right? I'm talking about the Constitutional right to bear arms. Two different things.

I never said it was "required". I said it was "ironic". However, the article said it was "required" and one may perhaps believe it's required since the instructions say "DO bring photo identification..." instead of something like "It might be a good idea to bring photo identification...".

I'd still like the person who posted the OP to answer this. Any chance?

    Then where is the irony?

You can read the instructions for yourself. If you think ID is "required", that's fine. If not, that's fine, too. I feel it's rather ironic for an organization protesting ID laws to instruct their protestors "DO bring photo ID...".

Why? Where is the "irony"? You can't seem to articulate exactly why this is ironic.
