The out going Director General of the BBC has rejected a plan to put a statue of George Orwell outside the BBC as he is too left wing for the BBC, is this true or is it just an excuse as there is already an artwork at this site and it is felt that the Orwell statue would obscure it.

Has anyone at the BBC ever even read Animal Farm? I don't think anyone has ever written a more critical work of fiction decrying communisim. I think Orwell was equally critical of the Right but calling him too Left is just nonsense. Flip a coin.

One man. His orange. The in-going Director General will have his/her own ideas on that, as will the next, and so on. I don't have a personal opinion on whether or not the proposed statue is appropriate, but I'm sure a great deal of effort is being put into keeping the local birds from preparing any assault on it should it be erected.
