I know that many say not to get rid of the penny, but I didn't realize how miniscule they really are until I sent one. http://www.sendmepennies.com
The total count is now up to 9246. I sent him a penny by clicking on the ad. It seems that counts towards the total.
WOW! and I would bet a penny that you are, in no way, affiliated with the owner of this website... ...now you owe me a penny, don't you?
well, it's just a penny, right? I mean, aren't you itching to send them to people? or is this whole thread just spam...
this website actually discourges you from sending pennies because of postage costs, he wants you to send via paypal, which will not send him pennies. So if someone sends a few cents via paypal there are no pennies changing hands, just cash. The million penny thing has already been done a few times and the people who collectd them always had trouble cashing them in. a million pennies is about 3.6 tons and no bank is capable of holding that much copper. Here's the link to one of the people that collected a million pennies. http://www.chickenmcnugget.com/man-tries-to-get-rid-of-million-pennies/
Read the article and had to laugh. They guy won't pay extra to get rid of the pennies, but is willing to ship them from Cali to Oregon. Even using a standard moving company, 3.6 tons is going to cost a lot to move. States that he was buying $250 in pennies a week at one point. If he was smarter, he could make some more $$ and solve ease his problem at the same time.....sell off the bank roll on eBay.
