Obama in 2016 is a much better comparison because it was the same type of income. Much more relevant than the amount of income.

How about the pence's tax returns to find their Effective Tax Rate? Let's take a look at that.

    2015: Adjusted Gross Income: $113,026
    Total Tax: $8,956
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $17,118
    Refund: $10,162
    Effective Tax Rate: 7.92 %

    2014: Adjusted Gross Income: $147,623
    Total Tax: $17,671
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $24,147
    Refund: $8,476
    Effective Tax Rate: 11.97 %

    2013: Adjusted Gross Income: $119,862
    Total Tax: $7,714
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $17,879
    Refund:$13,452
    Effective Tax Rate: 6.44 %

    2012: Adjusted Gross Income: $167,474
    Total Tax: $14,838
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $21,079
    Refund: $7,493
    Effective Tax Rate: 8.86 %

    2011: Adjusted Gross Income: $185,798
    Total Tax: $19,389
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $22,566
    Refund: $3,177
    Effective Tax Rate: 10.44 %

    2010: Adjusted Gross Income: $187,234
    Total Tax: $17,915
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $21,849
    Refund: $3,989
    Effective Tax Rate: 9.57 %

    2009: Adjusted Gross Income: $187,495
    Total Tax: $16,481
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $20,065
    Refund: $3,634
    Effective Tax Rate: 8.79 %

    2008: Adjusted Gross Income: $167,776
    Total Tax: $13,904
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $21,168
    Refund: $7,264
    Effective Tax Rate: 8.29 %

2007: Adjusted Gross Income, Original: $162,955
    Total Tax, Original: $12,550
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $22,472
    Refund, Original: $9,922
Effective Tax Rate, Original: 7.70 %

    Adjusted Gross Income, Corrected: $161,761
    Total Tax, Corrected: $12,120
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $22,472
    Refund, Additional: $430
Effective Tax Rate, Corrected: 7.49 %

    Refund Total: $ 10,352

pence's Tax Return was corrected due to the following: "The original return reflected an IRA distribution from Merrill Lynch for $1,194 as taxable. This amount was rolled over to another IRA account within 60 days."

    2006: Adjusted Gross Income: $159,484
    Total Tax: $13,355
    Federal Income Tax Withheld: $23,708
    Refund: $10,413
    Effective Tax Rate: 8.37 %

As clearly demonstrated above, the Effective Tax Rate people pay differs from year to year. It even differs when a return is corrected, as shown with the pence's return from 2007.

So again, the year matters, and so does a lot of things, as tax returns are unique to the individual (or, married filing jointly, as with the pence's).

Moral of the story? Never trust a so-called conservative, they bullshit too much to take seriously.
