Hey everyone. Since the other thread is already on the second page, I thought it might be best to start a new thread for the RNC. I'll link Trump's last speech here after it's over, but in the meantime feel free to post links to any other RNC speeches/segments you found especially valuable. I recommend the C-SPAN YouTube channel for unedited/embedded links.

 

What kind if idiot would you have to be to believe anything these lying bastards say? Still waiting on the health plan that was going to be announced in two weeks six weeks ago. And then there are those wonderful executive orders that mean absolutely nothing. Keep believing guys! Hook, line, and sucker.

 

Never have I seen such blatantly shameful fearmongering. I thought the RNC was supposed to be uplifting and positive. Also, first gen American, but her mom is from Puerto Rico?

Trump one time blamed a crisis in Puerto Rico on the "president of Puerto Rico" without realizing it was him. Is this them doubling down on that? Have we disowned Puerto Rico?

Pam Bondi attempts to return $25,000 to Trump charity

TALLAHASSEE | Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi tried to return a controversial $25,000 donation from Donald Trump’s foundation, but it was not accepted, an accountant who works for Bondi said.

The Trump Foundation gave the money to Bondi’s political committee in September 2013, but renewed questions about it were raised shortly after Bondi endorsed Trump earlier this year.

Nancy Watkins, the treasurer of a political committee run by Bondi, said this week that the group sent a check to the Trump Foundation in March after they became aware the foundation was a charity, an apparent violation of the rules surrounding political activities by charities.

Watkins said the Trump Foundation refused to accept the check, saying Trump wrote a personal check to his foundation covering the amount.

“They rejected it and sent it back,” Watkins said.

A spokeswoman for Trump did not immediately respond to an email Tuesday asking about the donation.

The Associated Press reported Monday that Bondi personally solicited the contribution from Donald Trump around the same time her office was being asked about an investigation of alleged fraud at Trump University and its affiliates

A political group backing Bondi’s re-election, called And Justice for All, reported receiving the check Sept. 17, 2013 - four days after Bondi’s office was quoted as saying they were reviewing the New York probe of Trump University’s activities. Ultimately, Bondi’s office took no action.

Marc Reichelderfer, a political consultant who worked for Bondi’s 2014 re-election, told the AP this week that Bondi spoke with Trump “several weeks” before the contribution was received. Reichelderfer said that Bondi was unaware of complaints received about Trump’s real-estate seminars at the time she requested the donation.

All told, more than 20 people requested help from the Florida attorney general’s office in obtaining refunds from Trump University and affiliates, with Bondi’s predecessor receiving numerous other complaints about the seminar company Trump partnered with. Many of the Trump-related consumers alleged that they paid money for training materials and personalized instruction that were never delivered.

Bondi’s office said back in 2013 that it had it received only a single complaint about Trump University because most of the complaints dealt with the Trump Institute, a separate corporate entity from Trump University, and were made before she took office at the start of 2011. But emails from Bondi’s office show that her top staff were made aware of the lawsuit filed in August 2013 by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Several Florida Democrats on Tuesday called for an “independent investigation” of Bondi’s activities, although they did not say exactly who should conduct that investigation. House Democratic Leader Mark Pafford called Bondi’s conduct “unacceptable” and said Floridians deserve a “full accounting.”

I have not. Neither did I watch last week so I cannot comment on either. I am so completely broken over our current national climate that I have taken hiatus from it all. I am just sick to death of all the opinionated hogwash. I am right, you are wrong and be damned if I will compromise. And it’s everywhere. No, I have not partaken of any of it.

 

Ah, I'm sorry it's taken such a toll on you but it's totally understandable. Emotions run real high near elections and there's nothing wrong with a mental health break.

I did it. I watched it live.

Oh boy, I had some expectations for how I'd feel, but this didn't meet them. Somehow I feel a ton better about the election after watching this because the speech was incredibly boring.

Hardly inspiring.
Full of obvious lies.
Slouching the whole time.
Slow monotone teleprompter reading.

I'm pretty sure it was the first time he read that speech because he kept mispronouncing words and slurring his speech near the end.

Worst of all, there was barely any substance. Talking points were repeated ad nauseum only restated in sightly different ways, not dissimilar to how a high school student extends an essay. The speech writer should be fired for this one.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of his fans didn't watch this all the way through. So, what did you all think?

No kidding, is the line of "look how bad things are now, re-elect me to stop it" really working? That was the theme of the convention. I feel ripped off because I was promised "positive and uplifting"

 

I have to agree. The ship is listing and only I can right the ship doesn’t sound like a winning message. However I am not sure I can blame bad behavior on the man either. We have failed to teach manners and this is what we got for it. I know everything else is Trumps fault. I don’t fault him for individuals lack of etiquette.

 

I watched it live as well. It was boring indeed, largely because the speech was read from a teleprompter, instead of being off the cuff, which better fits his style, but leaves uncalculated messaging in his wake.

Absent a rousing oratory, I reflected over my thoughts from the other day:

Most important to halting / reversing the decay of this country,

• Replaced scores of revisionist judges with constitutional purists

Essential to the prosperity of the American People,

• Replaced NAFTA
• Reduced obstacles to manufacturing in America
• Made America energy independent
• Eliminated Obama's onerous individual mandate penalty
• Stifled illegal immigration

Paramount to the security of nations the world over,

• Withdrew from the Iran Deal
• Slowed North Korean progress on nuclear development, testing and proliferation
• Restored defense funding to an appropriate level
• Substantially dismantled ISIS
• Let China know we'll no longer tolerate their transgressions

Considering his accomplishments while swimming upstream against liberal persecution, I find it all quite remarkable.

Despite his obvious lack of political acumen, there's no doubt in my mind that the man is far more qualified to be president than is Joe Biden . . . All substance and no style, not unlike Winston Churchill.

 

Screw manners and etiquette. It's policies that are the issue here. People have a very serious right to be pissed about what is going on in this country. The violence is an inevitability. And I mean on both sides. One side is pissed off by the policies of this administration and the other side is being told that they should take matters into their own hands with a wink and a nod. The ultimate goal here is a race war. Sound hyperbolic to you? Then you haven't been paying attention.
