My company has been eyeing a new machine for a while, but with the uncertainty of the tax isues, we held off. After yesterdays announcement, we signed a purchase order for a $300,000 machine. It is a state of the art HMC, or Horizontal Machining Center, CNC controlled, in which I am the programmer where I work.

Took delivery today as you can see by the picture !!! the paper says Dems are angry at tax cuts for the rich.

3 millwrights worked today installing it, an electrition will work tommorow wiring it in to our power grid. A semidriver worked today delivering it.

We are starting interviews for 2 new employees to run it 2 shifts, 5 days a week. Thats 2 full time jobs created !!!

This machine will require $50,000 or so in American made fixtures, tooling and support equiptment, and will coast thru $1,000's of dollars a year in American made perishible drill bits and cutting tools.

Yes, my boss is your typical rich republican. And gladly so. Thanks for the tax cuts Obama and the coalition of those who got this done. This is an immeadiate and in realtime reflection of the power of tax cuts, to deny so would be insanity.

I don't think anyone thinks that when people get more money that they don't go out and spend it. Heck, we could send all the tax rates to 0 and people, and businesses, would immediately start buying stuff. At least until the economy exploded from the government defaulting on its debt.

The fact is that, during this tax cut, the debt has exploded, just as it exploded under Reagan and just how it will continue to do so under extensions of this tax cut. And the yearly deficit shrank when taxes were higher under Clinton.

To me, these tax cuts being extended, not just the Bush ones but the Obama ones too, is just another sign that the country no longer has the stomach or the will power to do what needs to be done. A recession? Throw stimulus money at the people. Make it rain! Expiring tax cuts? No way, we can't have that! Make it rain! Fighting 2 wars? We can't have the country pay for them...we have stimulus money and tax cuts to hand out! We can't be expected to cut back even a little! If WWII broke out today, Hitler and Hirohito would have the world split in two in short order. I don't think this country would have the willpower to do the hard deeds.

The problem is not the tax levels, it is the spending !!!!!!!!!
    Reagan built our military.....spending
Bush never saw a spending bill he didnt like
    Obama has tripled our debt....

It is all spending. My point here is that if the government confiscates less of our money, more revenue will be created. They just have to stop spending it !!!!!!!!

My rich boss created 2 jobs and thousands of dollars in taxable ( local state and fed ) revenue. Now, dont blow the F'ing revenue and we should be ok.

Cut back your armed forces to a level that can protect you, call back all overseas units, shut off all overseas aid, cut back on civil service jobs, have a pay freeze for all elected officials and create real jobs by improving your infrastructures ie, road networks (if the unemployed want benifit let them work for it) Just a few ideas to lower your budget deficit

Spending is a problem. But, we have no politicians in either party who are willing to make the tough choices to cut spending. All they want to do is make the easy choices of cutting revenue.

I have posted too many times the 2011 budget. The politicians are lying to the people when they say they are going to take care of the debt by spending cuts. There is nothing else to call it but a lie. The numbers do not add up and it takes very little investigation to discover that.

The politicians try to make people believe that there is all this waste and that government is huge. And there is waste and the government is too big. But, the numbers, when you take defense off the table - like the Republicans do in their recent contract or pledge or whatever it was called and you take Medicaid off the table like the Democrats do and Social Security off the table - like they both do...the numbers don't add up. You would have to eliminate every part of the government, every agency and program, every government worker, every benefit, every agency, every single one, to pay the interest on the debt and balance the budget when those things are off the table. And that was before this weeks 800 billion dollar compromise.

I do hope I am wrong and everyone else is right but I do know one thing...we are going to find out in our lifetimes. The numbers are accelerating. This week's perfect compromise of less revenue and more spending illustrates that perfectly.

What I find troubling is in this current bill, Social Security tax has dropped 2% ( I'll believe it when I see it ).....It is already underfunded....how the F is that going to help?

So my paycheck will go up 5 bucks, and the SS fund will be even more in debt? I do not want my kids working for a world government and living in serfdom , ala, the book, 1984 by George Orwell. It is happening so fast it is unbelievable.

I am 49......and do not plan on 1 red cent of social security income....I am fending for my self and my family

What I'd like to know is why republicans think running this country is a free proposition. Infrastructure, defense, police, firemen, medical costs all take money and yet for some reason, they don't want to pay anything. Ten years of tax breaks and we have less jobs created than at any other time in recent history. As low but ever increasing inflation has made everything more expenive in the last 10 years, republicans want to contribute even less in taxes to pay for the very things that keep this government from colapsing. Fact: costs increase over time. Fact: revenue has to increase to meet those additional costs.

It is the same story as the National Debt. The reason for the SS payroll cut is because they know the system is failing and a 2 percent payroll cut is not going to matter to them. As of August, Social Security started paying out more than it takes in. I bet 90% of Americans don't know that.

It has happened before, I believe - during the 70ies or 80ies, but this time it will stay in the red even after (or if) the economy fully recovers. 2015 was the permanent red point before the compromise. It has to be earlier now with a payroll cut.

But, the truth is that taking away funds really doesn't matter to our Dear Leaders in the here and now because they need that money to placate the masses and keep their jobs. It is another Big Lie. They really don't care if SS taps out in 2037 (the current projection before this week's Great Compromise) or whether it taps out in 2035 or 2032 instead...regardless of what they might tell you. They are more interested in keeping their power and influence and jobs in the short term than they are about that.

What percentage of the top 10% of income earners pay to the current revenue stream?
What percentage of those who pay ZERO tax get a refund?

My whole point of this thread is this: Get the government out of the way of the small businessman, and let Americsa prosper. My company employes 11, soon to be 13 people.

Why is this a partisian issue? We put America to work today, I know it stings the leftys, but really, is that not a good thing?

Consumers charging on their credit cards and taking out home equity loans stimulated the economy too...until the bills came due. ;)

I follow the same plan but all those other people sure affected the whole of the country.

I guess the best way I can put it is that I consider myself quite fiscally conservative. I believe in smaller government and lower taxes. But, I do not consider myself a Republican. Why? Because I want us to cut the spending before we cut the taxes because not doing that is what has led us to the debt we have. And the Republicans have, once again, shown that they are very good at the latter but not so good at the former - in fact they suck at the cutting spending part. Which is why I have such a huge problem with the Big Lie they have fed the people again this week.

Stu, we are on the same page. I left the Repos and registered indy. spending must be cut....but I think let the employers keep all that we can aford. They , afterall create the jobs.

Look at some of the stupid shi t we are paying for in our budget and you will see that cuts can be made.

Wouldn't it be cool if everytime we maxed out our credit card, we could just hit a button and raise out credit limit? thats what the government is doing. BOTH partys.......

You ever read those stories about people who know there are going down but they max out the credit cards, take loans against any equity they have in their house, cash in everything and do everything else they can to maintain their standard of living as long as possible until it all inevitably comes crashing down?

I can't help but think that is our current political climate.

Agree Stu, but back to topic........the extension of the tax cuts created 2 jobs in AZ....I would hope to see this nationwide. I would also like to see the left complain about tax cuts for the rich. Without changing the subject.
