If the kids on my lawn are of republican parents, yes, get off my lawn. Tell your daddy to go buy you your own, or wait until your inheritance. Madness is corporate America's destruction of morality. Great comment oh wealthy one.

Most republicans only care about what can turn profit. 2, 7, 12 whatever generates the most cash.

I didn't disregard anything. I stated my opinion, which was edited because you didn't like it. No other reason. You miss the bigger point while focusing on nonsense, further obscuring the point.

I'm glad you have such keen insight. Yeah...I really meant what you are trying to imply. Perhaps you are the sick one.

And the profit and cash generation in lowering the age of consent would be....?

It almost seems like that when you find yourself on the same side as Republicans on moral/social issues - which does seem to happen quite a bit - that you try to somehow turn it into an economic thing to show why they shouldn't agree with you.

I've figured out that it's senseless to try to debate with Tom. If the sun is shining, he thinks the Republicans are trying to give everyone skin cancer.

I'm saying IF there was a way to make if more profitable to corporate America, say to 7,8 or whatever, then THAT age IS what it will be, regardless of any other consideration. That's really all I'm trying to infer.
So, maybe you could define "quite a bit"? Economically speaking, I completely disagree with every position the base of that party stands for. Perhaps you could list the many examples that would define "quite a bit" in which I agree with the right wing whackos.

The republicans would give everybody skin cancer, so long as they could turn a buck or two or 300 billion.

In my opinion, it seems to happen mostly with religious right issues. I have pointed out similarities to Palin in the past and how anti-Libertarian a number of issues have been. Others have said Rush. Gays in the military is the most recent example.

I see Dr Moen has abandoned this thread. I wonder if he now sees the damage he is causing by allowing his child to carry on a relationship with a grown woman?

You got me on the gay issue. I do happen to agree with the base party of the corporate rapists on that one. That's one. I'm working to re-align that unfortunate coincidental
point of view, but not successfully as of yet. I' will keep working on it though. Palin? She says whatever will stir up support (dollars) for herself. Rush is a crazy bloated druggy hypocrite..an idiot, a right wing mouth piece. I'm at one.
That represent "quite a bit", does it?

I believe Tomcorona is a double-agent planted here by the Republicans to spout fatuous rantings in an effort to demonstrate how nonsensical the Democrats/Socialists/Lefties really are. Well, it's working! Good job, Tom!

However, sometimes in a heated debate his true Republican feelings bubble to the surface. Watch out, Tom or you'll be discovered!

Nah...not enough of a profit to be made off of me for their P&L sheets. Has to be at least 10k fold on their investment. Any less and imported champagne inventories start to become affected. I'm not worth the risk.

This age thing is really tricky. I do not agree with a 13 year dating an 18 year old. But then again when I was in high school, it was common for a freshman to date a senior so this is sort of the same thing. I guess it could just depend on how mature the couple is.

I think the markets should decide.

You're okay with letting someone, other than yourself, decide what's good for your kids? Oh yeah, I forgot, based on your record anything is better than your own judgement.

There is not a certain time in puberty when you click over from "child" to "adult." Everyone has their own development time. As people grow, they push the boundaries of what they should do faster than is safe for them. My kids try to wander off on us to prove how independent they are, but when my wife and I hide to give them the appearance of that independence (just the appearance of it, not the fact of it), the kids freak out. They want more than they're capable of. Since each person develops differently, I would rather be cautious in assuming someone is still a child than to lower the age of consent.

Why should we lower it to 13? What's does someone have at 13 that they don't have at 12? I realize this argument can be turned around to ask "why at 18? What's does someone have at 18 that they don't have at 17?" Point is, since we do have to draw the line somewhere, I would rather raise the bar than lower it.

And yes, I've met 23 year olds who are less mature than the 13 year old standing next to them. Doesn't mean I think we should lower the age of consent.

I voted no, although, if I'd have met my wife when I was 18, she was 8.
I am 10 years older than her, but we met when I was 31.
