A ton of science that has escaped the clutches of peer-reviewed journals and scientifically literate reporters? I have a hard time believing that. Can you cite any sources? Do the people who do this know that there is a cool million dollars waiting for them if they can demonstrate it to the James Randi Foundation?
hmmmm....read a bit....scimmed a bit...read some more and laughed. Dang OldDan!!! You have a knack. Start a thread about lacking education in the US and we've run the gammet of politics and religion. Maybe this thread itself is a good indicator of the state (meaning condition) of the US. As a society we can't even discuss or debate a single topic without emoting it to death and running around all offended. P.S. Want a good example of how money is NOT the solution? Figure out why the state of MA spends 2x the money per student compared to NH, but on a whole, NH students test out 2x better than MA students.
Sorry google disappointed you today James Randi Foundation "cool million" is for proof of super powers. Devining rods and such are NOT.....gonna repeat this for you...NOT super powered devices. The process is simple, the full explanation encompasses Einstein to Newton on through. Now, if THEY think this process is supernatural, I'm gonna take the money Try it yourself if you doubt me b/c I guarentee I can map out where the waterpipes and powerlines run through your yard (if you have one) and where a good source of water will be if you need to sink a well. Simply take 2 wire coat hangers, cut them and straighten them out. Bend each to shape an L where one leg of the L is about 4 inches long. Hold each wire in your hands LOOSELY (by the short part) so that they can swing about freely. Hold your hands about 12 -18 inches apart Now...walk. Starting near a known underground powerline will help to get a "feel" for it. As you pass over the powerline the 2 pieces of wire will cross over in front of you. As you go past it, they will seperate. Witching sticks are just an organic form of the same tool. Just because something is "old" technology, do not be so quick to dismiss it. Mistakes like that is why science is still theorizing (can't conclusively prove it yet) as to how the ancient egyptians build their pyramids.
I really believe that if a person were to go back and read all the posts contained within this thread, they would come away with a fairly good idea why I gave it the title that was given. I rest my case!
Hi Lawdog, I don't think there's anything there that can't be explained by such commonplace things as ideomotor phenomena, educated guesswork based on above-ground clues, and random chance. Well, I say, go for it!!! Think of the neat coins you could buy with a million dollars! (And tell them Bluegill sent you...maybe I'll get a finder's fee... ) And I second what you said about Old Dan. Maybe I can start another tangent. Who was the lousiest teacher you had? Mine was Coach D, who taught us Health my freshman year of high school. Any word with more than six letters he simply could not spell. Any word with three or more syllables, he could not pronounce. During a one-day class on alcohol consumption, we discussed various blood alcohol levels. Talking about the serious effects of having a blood alcohol level of .25 percent, he soberly (ahem) advised us, "Gentlemen, that means one quarter of your blood is alcohol. It could kill you." Another teacher had to tell him the difference between 25 percent and .25 percent. That guy was even worse than Coach G, who used to hit me with hockey sticks.
Sounds like one of Satan's tricks to me. Regards, CraigG Answer: one. Question: How many psychics does it take to change a light bulb.
