Do you guys see the hypocrisy in the comments made about Obama from Hillary, Bill & Biden?
When did this metamorphisis occur? Just recently the three stooges were calling him everything- ill-prepared, unqualified, an empty suit, a hack- Bill even called his campaign a fairy tale!! What happened? What did I miss? When do they think this magical change ocurred in Obama? Is it a case of "they'll say anything"?
I believe they are doing a disservice to the country by selling someone they truly feel is so unqualified to be President when they each so obviously have stated how capable & qualified his opponent happens to be.

Now lets be honest with ourselfs.

McCains convention is next, are we goin to be as critical and " observing " as we were with Obama's?

Many Repo's have given him a pass as the lesser of the 2 evils, but remember the last 8 years, John McCain has been a thorn in the side of conservatives, lets not let him slip and slide either, OK ?

We are going to hear all about the " Reagan Soldier ", the POW years, his this and his that. McCain is the weakest candidate we could have put up there, so lets not get all gaga over Johnny The Maverick.

It has not been announced yet, his VP, so I'll say my prayers he pick a solid conservative.......Romney would be best, but remember the Morman thing ( I know, a form of racism or religious fanatisicm ), or a strong woman candidate.

A Huckabee ( big tax / open border) is a loser in my mind, and ANY pro abortion liberal is a loser. C'mon John, pick us a conservative !!!!!! NOT LIBERMAN or Gulianni !!!!!

Ok, I'm out for the night on this one, I want to watch " The Saviour " hail from the heavens into his rock star temple and save us all from damnation"

The people you mentioned are politicans not statesman. I just do not get how some people worship them while they are some of the biggest sinners, not so much Biden who is looking to be part of history, a trival pursuit question part.

    Jack,
But the Libs make it soooo easy!!

I guess it's the hypocrisy that really gets me.

    Example:
I am anticipating an Obama acceptance speech tonight that will talk about how bad the last 8 yrs have been under George Bush. Really? The past 8 yrs haven't been so bad for Obama. If his story is to be believed, he showed up at the 2000 convention, wasn't able to get in & even had his credit card declined for a rental car (a sure sign of economic genius when a family of Ivy League-educated lawyers can't even rent a car!!). Well look at him today...not a bad eight years, huh?

    Example:
Biden and Michelle want to tell their back stories, detailing humble beginnings and overcoming obstacles shearly by hard-work & self-reliance but they want all of us to be completely reliant on governent. I don't get it!

    Example:
The libs want to "raise everyone up" but make John McCain's properity the butt of their jokes. They want to portray McCain as being out of touch but show clips of the Kennedy's sailing off the coast of their Martha's Vineyard compound.

    Example:
They promise jobs but vilify the businesses that actually create the jobs!! They put the brakes on investment, motivation and innovation by raising taxes on the people respionsible for it. They preach better education while protecting bad teachers via the teachers unions.

    Example:
Obama's claim to fame is voting against the war from Day One but don't forget that he wasn't even a member of Congress then!!!

I can go on...and on...and on but my wife has just pulled a cobbler out of the oven I have to dish out the ice cream!!

Ya know David at least Jack is a realist to some extent by my standards as I suppose I am one to some extent by his standards.

We call this politics. Politicians lie - it's real simple. They have a VERY strong tendency to make things better for themselves. It's really no different than the a$$ kisser in any company that will stab anyone in the back to get the promotion.

Has Obama had it rough for the past 8 years. Well, honestly it doesn't seem that way does it.
Has McCain been eating cold, off brand "Pork n Beans" out of a can? Yeah, doubt that too.

Now the Dem's are "hinging" on the houses issue. Like the Repos haven't been hinging on ANY Obama issue, OVER AND OVER AND OVER? Hell, you live for this stuff David. Rezko, Wright etc. etc. Is this ALL the Repos have?

Has the Obama camp been holding back maybe? You know, instead of using the same tired old stuff bring it out when it counts? Wouldn't that be novel?

Politics is dirty business and anyone that does not see that is a total moron no matter how educated, hard working or righteous they might be. It ALSO goes both ways.

So when the Republican convention rolls around will ALL that opposed McCain in the primaries snub him? From a Dem point of view that would be pretty cool but I don't see it.
Yes, those that bashed him will suddenly be supporting him! Kind of a no brainer ya know? It's a party thing.

There are so many factors YET to be seen in this race. Debates? McCain is a better debator. Speeches? Obama blows him away.

Who WILL turn out to vote? Well, I think there's a good shot at RECORD numbers. Lots of young people. Whether or not they are right in anyone's opinon THEIR future is an issue.

Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans? Yep, there will be some voting going on.

Saviour or Satan Obama has a real good chance to pull this off. That's a reality.

One can analyze, criticize, dig into numbers all day. One can go back several administrations if one wants.
Here's a reality though. What they look at is what's going on NOW. Under a current administration. This one is not overly popular so it makes room for another.

Yes, it's going to be interesting.

    Ok, I watched it.

I wont comment on alot, because he pulled off a great speech, regardless of content, as that is what he does best. The purpose was achieved, home run hit.

One big thing that I must mention tho, is that he said " I am my brothers keeper, thats the change I will bring "

Now, don't you think that after Vanity Fair dug up his siblings living in huts with no electricity or plumbing, that the line would have been caught by a proof reader?

And, that total faliure Jimmy Carter accusing McCain of " milking " the Viet Nam experience, only 4 years after he espoused the great John Kerry for the same thing?
C'mon Carter, your an embarrasment to yourself, your party and your nation. Go build the Obama family some houses with electricity and running water. Stay there. You have damaged this nation enough.

Obama pulled off a great cap to a poor convention. He hit it out of the park, and his supporters have been charged and solidified. That, is a successful convention. Now lets watch the Repo's follow that with a good one of their own. Hopefully.

Just watched it as well on CNN breakfast show and I have to say I was impressed even with some of the content.
Removing capital gains tax for small buisnesses that sounds good to me :D
Improved education and collage for those who serve there comunities & country also good.
Better care for vetrans now who wants to argue over that one!!
Improved medical care for all :D
Cut taxes for 95% of all working families
    Tap our natural gas reserves
    Invest in clean coal technology
Help our auto companies re-tool, so that the fuel-efficient cars of the future are built right here in America.
Invest 150 billion dollars over the next decade in affordable, renewable sources of energy
Equal pay for an equal day's work

    Direct quote now :D

As Commander-in-Chief, I will never hesitate to defend this nation, but I will only send our troops into harm's way with a clear mission and a sacred commitment to give them the equipment they need in battle and the care and benefits they deserve when they come home.

I will end this war in Iraq responsibly, and finish the fight against al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. I will rebuild our military to meet future conflicts. But I will also renew the tough, direct diplomacy that can prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and curb Russian aggression. I will build new partnerships to defeat the threats of the 21st century: terrorism and nuclear proliferation; poverty and genocide; climate change and disease. And I will restore our moral standing, so that America is once again that last, best hope for all who are called to the cause of freedom, who long for lives of peace, and who yearn for a better future.

Well they were some of the highlights now the question is can he deliver?

Just seen John McCains latest add, and I have to say he came across very well in his Congratulations to Obama, a very nice move on his part :D

Guys, believe me- I know this bunch (both sides) is just a bunch of politicians but don't forget that Act 1 of this Obama farce was that he was somehow different than every other politician out there, he transcended politics and represented a change. Well that was quickly dispelled yet he still manages to have people under his spell....nothing more than a cult of personality & I think it's dangerous for our country beause we still don't know the agenda or motivation behind his candidacy. I don't want to be sitting here a year from now saying "I told you so".

The speech he made last night was smooth & obviously well rehearsed but didn't you find it oddly short on specifics? Where is the money going to come from to pay for all this new bueacracy (sp?) while lowering taxes on 95% of the taxpayers? You don't really expect the wealthy to pay more just because their tax rates are increased do you? The wealthiest 10% don't have normal incomes that are taxed on each paycheck, they have accumulated wealth & investments. I know if I were in that effected class & my investments were subject to a higher tax rate I would simply invest less. Is that what we want?
And business taxes? Higher taxes are a disincentive. What are the results? Layoffs? Reduced wages? Packing up & moving overseas?
The prosperous have to remain prosperous or the whole system will grind to a halt- profit and greed are their motivations. Do some companies & some individuals profit to an incredible extreme? Sure, but at the same time they are employing our people and benefiting our 401k.

lets see and these are direct quotes from his speech

Now, many of these plans will cost money, which is why I've laid out how I'll pay for every dime - by closing corporate loopholes and tax havens that don't help America grow. But I will also go through the federal budget, line by line, eliminating programs that no longer work and making the ones we do need work better and cost less - because we cannot meet twenty-first century challenges with a twentieth century bureaucracy

I will stop giving tax breaks to corporations that ship jobs overseas and I will start giving them to companies that create good jobs right here in America.

This is what the man says

  13. David

    David Proud Enemy of Hillary

Exactly!! Statements & promises but no specifics!! Which loopholes? What tax havens?

"But I will also go through the federal budget, line by line, eliminating programs that no longer work and making the ones we do need work better and cost less"
I assume he has some in mind? Some ideas o how to make things work better?

Please show us something specific & perhaps change our view of him!!

So you expect him to lay it out for you line by line in his acceptance speach, get real David, I have said this before and I will say it again no matter what this guy does or dosent do you will be hovering there to pick holes in it. Detail I would imagine will come out in the Presidential face to face. How about you telling me what Senator McCain proposes in detail! after all he has been the designated candidate for the Republican party a lot longer than Obama has for his party.
And dont say that McCain has not been nominated yet there is no one there to oppose him.

Here is a ink to President G W Bush's acceptance speach show me one line in there were he went into specific, his speech was about promises and what they wanted to do but not how they would do it.
