Military movies are popular right now, but it's not critical movies they are making in Hollywood. On the contrary, the American Military Headquarter Pentagon is often allowed to decide upon big parts of the manuscripts. This is revealed in the media magazine "Brills Content".

US Military has officers who's job is to discuss film projects with Hollywood. The military is allowed to read the manuscript in advance and often come up with suggestions on changes, especially when it comes to parts that give a negative picture of the military.

An example: In the script to the movie "Asteroid" an American space-shuttle is sent into space with nuclear weapons onboard for to burst the asteroid which threatens the world, into pieces. But Pentagon didn't like the idea, as USA had signed a treaty against nuclear weapons in space.

In exchange for that the script was altered so that the asteroid instead was attacked with the help of missile equipped fighter aircraft, the air force placed one F-16 airplane, one air base, pilots and flying time to their disposal. The movie became dramatic and the air force had the opportunity to show up their latest equipment and heroic pilots.

The military think they get so good promotion in the Hollywood films they choose to participate in, that they lend equipment and personnel for free. The only thing the film companies need to pay is extra costs like air fuel.

The airforce gets about 100 film scripts into their hands every year, and in one single year they participate in around 30 projects. A liaison officer in Los Angeles is working actively to sell in the air force in Hollywood. Producers and directors are invited for demonstrations of new weapon systems.

Before the big movie "Armageddon" intensive negotiations were held between the air force, who wanted Bruce Willis to mould a retired air force technician, and the director Jerry Bruckheimer, who wanted him to be a former marine. As a compromise a new character was created, who was from the air force.

Sometimes the military offer their participation if they don't like the script. In "Broken Arrow" a nuclear weapon is stolen. The military saw this as intolerable, and Pentagon said no to give "full assistance" to the film team. Nevertheless the air force gave a limited help with information about uniforms etc.

The reason the producers agree to give the military such a big influence over the movies is that real military hardware is very valuable for the filmmakers. Nothing is better than a real fighter aircraft or a real hangar. The producers save lots of money if Pentagon lends them important properties for free. The alternative would be to rent expensive helicopters and other vehicles and re-paint them.

Before the big movie "Air Force one" the US air force lent six F-158 planes almost for free.

The alternative would have been to move the production to Israel, where the military lends such air planes for around $ 25.000 an hour.

The visual medium does effect on how people think depending upon who they vote for to what type of potato chip they will eat. The facts of what advertisers will pay just to push their visual image to as many people possible supports this for the reason why they pay the money is based upon results.
Movies, TV shows, commercials, bill boards are all part of the visual medium and are open to being exploited and manipulated for agendas ranging from making money to influencing thoughts and to an extent brain washing. The arabs in the middle east know this which is why they are heavy invested in Leftywood and the parent companies that own fox news, CNN, AOL, MSN, etc.....

There used to be laws on books about non-US citizen ownership of american press and broadcasting but they were taken off.

This is not a democrat issue or a republican issue but like our ports, which was never fully addressed, an american issue.

As for the beach, it was another beautiful day around 80ish with a few dolphins swimming off the shore line near sunset.
The kids had fun, I got some excise in chasing them around the surf and the wife chilled with some water in a bottle and her toes in the gulf. Would go again today but I am taking the kids and some of thier friends to view a local track meet instead. Could have went to hear Zell Miller speak tonight at the Town Hall but gave up the ticket to a neighbor who was more into it.

That is the way life is, you can either go along with someone or completely ignore that individual. In your case it isn't really a hard decision which trail to take. Along those lines;
Can you say with any certainty, that you have even come close to changing anyones oppinion on ANY subject that has been covered in this forum? Do you have the feeling that you are in quick sand and that everyone seems to have ear plugs implaced and you are talking to the wall? Do you really like to take this much time and effort on your part to defend and or promote anything that hasn't been accepted by anyone? Now for the really big question.......what possible good are you, or have you done? Prove it to yourself and do what is right. You are hopeless and just won't admit it ,even to yourself. If as you say it's the nature of political chat, then why do you or any one else get so 'up tight' about what ever is said? Who cares and really what difference does it make? Why not just laugh it off and go about living? It's certinally not worth loosing any sleep over and spending hours of trying to find the next web site to prove a point, which is meaningless.
As you probably have noticed that I have made light of most of these posts, except when it is down right dishonest and disgusting. So I leave you with this recommendation... lighten up!:thumb:

Old Dan, if you believe any of my posts are 'up tight' then you are just projecting imaginary emotions onto what I've written. I've posted on political chat boards for years and I know what to expect and I've learned not to take anything seriously, and fully realize that nothing is generally accomplished. I try to post accurate information when I think I have some facts, opinions when I care to, and I try to clearly distinguish the two for the reader. But you are correct, it just doesn't matter. Maybe I hold out the hope that one thing I've posted over the years has lit a spark of intellectual curiosity in someone someplace. Nahhhhhh! Probably not.

I think that you think to much of yourself, which most likely isn't much of a self-reflection.
Now you are currently having a love affair with Moen, but Moen seems to have a core of beliefs whereas you seem to flip flop like a burnt pancake whose thoughts seem to have burnt out.
Now if you disagree, why not present your views in an organized list.
After all you have been posting for years so it should be second hand.

As for the intent of this thread, the left does not want America to remember what happened on 911 and before so they will do anything ranging from limiting the coverage of what happened to rewriting history to suit their agenda's.

As for the far right, who cares their time has come and past and they have no numbers nor power to speak of.
