This is a classic instance of a low information voter pushing the cart of the wealthy up hill in the mud like an ignorant donkey. By this I mean you.
What you have posted is the Federal Income Tax paid. It would be great if that was the only tax that we paid but you seem to forget that we also pay, federal payroll taxes, gas taxes, sales taxes, utility taxes, property taxes, school taxes, and other taxes that are not part of Federal Income taxes.
If you ONLY look at Federal income tax paid, the upper 50% do pay the majority but there is a very good reason for that. They make all the money. The bottom 50% mainly consists of the elderly and the working poor. People that do not make enough income to pay Federal Income Taxes. They do however pay all the rest of the taxes I listed.

One thing to remember about these percentages... Obama is not looking to increase taxes on the majority of that top 10% of wage earners. He is only talking about increasing taxes on about the top 1.5% of wage earners. The rest of those top 10% of earners are his 'Middle Class'.

I found it before I even posted that. A bunch of twisted data. Not lies, but twisted to prove a point.

It's like Lawrence O'Donnell said, why are the super wealthy given a pass on taxes? Do they owe nothing to the country that made them the super wealthy? I just can't remember the point where we went from Americans working for the betterment of the country to I got mine and the hell with everyone else. If we continue along these lines this certainly will not be the America I remember nor will be an America worth having. Why would the masses have any loyalty to a country that is screwing them? This will not end well for anyone including the super wealthy but they are just too blinded by greed to see the logical conclusion to their experiment. But then again capitalism isn’t exactly a big picture system. When in history has this kind of crass grab at the reins of power ever worked out for anyone? I can’t think of an example and I defy anyone here to come up with one.

I generally agree with that. Except I disagree where the lines are being drawn. Obama thinks that only those making more than 5 times the median income should help in the 'betterment of the country' and that we can meaningfully impact the country's financial issues that way. I find that to be unrealistic and self-serving. I think everyone should go back to the pre-Obama/Bush tax rates but I certainly believe that, if someone thinks the 'wealthy' should be taxed higher, those making 2, 3, 4 or 5 times the median income should not 'get a pass'.

Well, when we discuss BO's desire to raise our taxes aren't we talking about Federal taxes? In mean it's not like BO has the authority to raise some of those other taxes....yet, right?

tom, the reason so many others are successful is because people like you are the competition.

No...the reason people like you are successful is luck of the draw, right place, right time, through being born into it, and by slashing the throats of others. By the way D*ckwad, I never said what I do for a living, and you know NOTHING about my financial status. Typical upper tier, elitist disconnected thinking for your type.
    Goofball.

Please enlighten me as what the "luck of the draw" was in my case.
