The two party system is over

I find it hard to believe that so called liberals from the democrat party and conservativites from the republican party are both on the band wagon for the 700 billion relief aid to the financial institutions that ripped us off in the first place. Solutions to this problem is simple, if people bought houses they could not afford-let them lose those houses and go back to rentals. If there are to many forecloser houses on the market just spend a billion dollars or so to rip them all down and leave a green area on the now vacant lot. As for those financial instutions that are in trouble, let them fall and newer stronger ones will take their place in a free market.

and yeah I like that promise that we will get all the money back it reminds me of the promise that we will use Iraqi oil to fund our war over there and it would not cost the american tax payer one dollar.

welcome The two parties are not entitled to my vote, I will take it elsewhere even if I have to write it in. I am still open to them but they have lost me for now at least. I am not going to take up a gun and go kill a congressman or a CEO, I will do the least I can do and say it with my vote...they DO take a popular tally just for giggles so I will be in the 'other' category. I see the other category growing and more people telling me they aren't happy about what they are being given to vote for quite often as of late. If third parties had any sense at all they would get a real good candidate that doesn't come off like a far lefty and far righty and take it seriously. Obama is right, its time for change but not in sex or race, that doesn't matter, a change in the way the people approach governing our nation and what we expect of them and see important in our chief executive (and representatives). For me its not political games, I dont need someone with charisma, who kisses babies and shakes hands and smiles real wide in a sharp suit...its a competent administrator.

 

I am SOOO lucky to live in a state that McCain will win without my vote.

 

Obama will win my state no matter how I vote.

But I dont want a President who likes corn dogs, or whatever white trash food commoners like. I want a President who is kind of an elitist. Someone who is Presidential. Lets face it you me or anyone else in here isnt going to be either candidates buddy or dinner partner. I want someone who can say, ''I know more than you.''. And be proud of the fact that they are smart and not treat it as a shortcoming. Love you.

 

I dont, thats how you get megalomaniacs in office, so called 'leaders' who are going to lead the flock over the cliff...idiots who think they are above it all and know it all...I see enough of that on the internet. I prefer they know a lot, but I would rather them not be pompous windbags. We have enough know it alls running around thinking they are inspired, I want a smart guy who is human and knows it.

You seem to want some kind of patrician who puts himself above us, I guess you want a leader to lead us, the flock. THAT sounds like Bush, few are quite as entitled and full of his own self importants, I am sure he thinks he is brilliant and forward thinking. I want a guy who is smart, knows it, but also knows he is only one man and certainly doesn't know it all.

I cant say I care what the president eats, they are just people. It WILL be refreshing though to get Bush out and have a president that can at least pronounce the words written for him and doesnt make up new ones on the fly.

 

I never wrote someone above reproach, or above us. Someone here wrote elitist in reference to Obama. That came from an ad or a voice on Fox meaning a Harvard education. Thats all

 

I thought when you said you wanted an elitist president you wanted someone that fit this:

2. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.
3. consciousness of or pride in belonging to a select or favored group.

I am going by what YOU said you wanted a president to be, not anyone else. Because if you did, it would mean you wanted someone who thought they were above us, superior, favored, entitled. A perceived superiority, or as you say, someone who can say '''I know more than you.'' who isnt a 'commoner' and what you think of as 'white trash' (how about black trash?).

My only statement is no, I dont want someone like this, we have had more than our fair share of this type of person...I am willing to give a guy a shot that doesnt have a smug sense of entitlement thanks

 

Depends on how you define megalomaniac. There are more than a few 19th centurn presidents I would call less than megalomaniacal (and a few I would). Even in the 20th century I could name a non-megalomaniacal men. Nixon, for example (just kidding ).

Just off the top of my head, Polk, Grant (althongh not certain members of his administration), Taft, Harding would qualify, I think.
