No I don't believe it would matter one way or the other. It's still going to be illegal for them. Kids aren?t? naive to drugs. They already can obtain pot easier than alcohol as it stands.
Yes, but in a different way. Some kids smoke pot as a kind of rebellion, and sure many adults will still look unfavorably at it, but it will no longer meet the levelt hey want so they will need to move on to a new drug to express their rebellious nature. This is an interesting point, could making pot legal force some kids to harsher drugs? I can see where this is possible, I wonder what Jhony will say about your point?
It would no longer carry the 'rebellion' that it did...therefore, kids that want to rebel would be forced to look for the next step. On the flip side, many who just want to experiment could do so without ever moving on to harder stuff. Smoking and drinking are legal, many kids stop right there and never do more.
Kids don't do drugs to rebel. They do drugs to get high. Or they will experement do to peer pressure not rebellion.
THAT has to be one of the most misinformed comments I have seen this week! Believe me, they do it to rebel....as well as for a whole host of other reasons.
If they wanna rebel with drugs the leaglity wouldn't make one bit of difference. Thats just plain silly to think they do drugs just to piss of the parents or teachers.
Exactly, your 100% right, what good does it do to rebel with something that is legal? Thats like a girl wanting to rebel by dating a doctor instead of the out of work biker.
I would think kids would be more likely to go to hard drugs now when they can often get marijuana and harder drugs from the same source. Legalizing marijuana would isolate further kids from hard drug dealers. This would also allow additional police enforcement aimed at dealers in hard drugs.
What kids are rebelling against society? Hook them up with Xbox and their fine. Come on. We were all kids before. Tell me you did drugs to rebel.
Well maybe, but with the way homosexuality is completely accepted these days, that would not count either. Not if the pot fills their need at the time. The point being made really covers two different kinds of pot smoking kids. The ones being a rebel are doing drugs because their illegal and considered bad by society. Once pot is legal and completely accepted like drinking is now, they will need a new drug to be rebels with. The second type who just do it for fun are the same as drinkers, their use is restricted by the stuff being illegal but once it is legal and accepted, they can use it without the negative illegal part. Many kids never use pot because it is illegal though so now you add them into the numbers and suddenly you have a very out of control situation on your hands. So, one group of kids get driven to harsher drugs to remain the rebels, and other kids start using pot because it is suddenly accepted and you cannot get into trouble. Not good if you ask me.
