Well, there were discussions about the possibility of planes being used as weapons and the possible effects they could have on buildings, several years in advance of 9/11. You can find direct quotes from people on youtube and documentation proving it, but nothing extra was done. They were 'allowed' to protect as far as I was concerned.

But SHHHHHH!! Some people don't want to go look. ;)

If they can have that much information and fore-sight and still nothing could be done, we may as well take our chances.

I may start on people if something happens but it will be for different reasons. Such as border control.

Most reasonable sized citires (over even counties) have police forces that are trained in homeland defense type stuff and terrorist profiling or whatever. My brother did it for several years before he retired. They get lots of training in various places (even Army training) and plenty of gear. But, wiretapping, etc..I do not believe so but I never thought to ask.

    Ummm

no actually. The civil rights are specifically defined but protections against wiretapped have been enacted into law by congress.

You don't know a damn thing about me, but obviously if you did, you wouldn't profess such idiotic things.

That being said, you do realize that you too are a crazy person, right.

In a bit of animal pop-psychology, the mayor said that animals with a purpose in life were happier than those without one. He called objections by P.E.T.A. to animals in the circus ''weird.''

As I'm sure many of you are aware, circuses that use elephants and big cats in their acts are not on PETA's approved list! Circuses—including Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, for instance—use aggression, violence, and confinement to "train" elephants to perform asinine tricks. This often results in pain, suffering, and trauma. Some elephants go mad, while others become infected with deadly diseases, like a human strain of tuberculosis (TB). Quite a few suffer early deaths. (If this is the first time you're hearing that all is not glitter and glamour for animals in circuses, I think I've got some sad news for you about Santa Claus as well.)

PROTEST MAKES CIRCUS OF CITY HALL FEST

By MICHAEL FINNEGAN and MICHAEL R. BLOOD DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

    Wednesday, January 26th 2000, 2:12AM

Police tightened security at City Hall yesterday after two animal-rights activists broke up a welcoming ceremony for the circus - and staged a noisy protest with Mayor Giuliani an arm's length away.

Officers assigned to protect the mayor were caught off guard by the demonstration during Giuliani's annual greeting to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus, which comes to town in March.

The mayor - flanked by clowns, balloons and top-hatted ringmaster Michael James McGowan - was thanking the circus for giving 1,000 tickets to needy kids when the man and woman who had posed as students jumped up from the front row, tossed fistfuls of fake $20 bills into the air and accused the circus of abusing its elephants.

"The elephants can't buy their freedom, but Ringling bought you!" they shouted at Giuliani, as the air filled with phony greenbacks.

How did P.E.T.A. get in with the tyranny thread?

It has been ruled that wiretaps themselves are constitutional. Just as searching your house is. However, it requires a warrant.

My point was that I believe the right to privacy that the Supreme Court has upheld many times along with the 9th amendment that I posted (in combination with the 4th amendment) already provide protection against warrantless wiretapping in the US.

And, just because the Congress has enacted some law does not mean that the issue was not already covered by the Constitution. And, if they pass a different law tomorrow, it also does not mean that law will be constitutional.
