West Point military academy drops 'Duty, Honor, Country' from mission statement

"The U.S. Military Academy at West Point has made the decision to remove the "Duty, Honor, Country" motto from its mission statement.

Officials stressed that the phrase would remain West Point's motto, however, and that the mission statement has changed on a regular basis; this new mission statement is West Point's tenth since 1925. "Duty, Honor, Country" hadn't been included as part of the mission statement until 1998.

In a letter sent to students and supporters, Superintendent Lt. Gen. Steve Gilland said the phrase would be replaced in the mission statement with the words, "Army Values.""

Feels like a non-story. Especially when reading the whole thing. On a side note, what a blast from the past visit AOL in 2024. I did not know that company still existed.

 

Innocent. Right. This is just one more "brick" removed from the foundation of our country. The arguments given - change, are a smoke screen.

"ARMY VALUES" = QUEERS and "woke," politically correct cattle. We are is so much trouble.

 

I'm with @GeneWright on this one. I don't see what the big deal is. It is still their motto and that's what matters to the "boots on the ground" people.

I liken a mission statement to what comes out of our current VPOTUS's mouth, nothing but word salads that don't mean much to the people that are actually doing the work.

 

After reading the article I kinda, by way less than 5 degrees removed, liken Superintendent Lt. Gen. Steve Gilland statements to those of Chip Diller.

 

I will always defend Free Speech of anyone, no matter how dufus or uninformed.
In this particular situation, you simply don't know what the hell you are talking about, and are forgiven.

I am interested in some information you can provide, if you want to: When did you earn your Master Parachutist Badge, and when did you earn your Ranger Tab? Where were you awarded a Combat Infantry Badge designation?

 

I'll quote the general and then ask a question: "Our responsibility to produce leaders to fight and win our nation's wars requires us to assess ourselves regularly," Gilland wrote in a letter to cadets and supporters on Monday. "Thus, over the past year and a half, working with leaders from across West Point and external stakeholders, we reviewed our vision, mission, and strategy to serve this purpose."

Whom do you think are the "external stakeholders," the foreign enemies of my country who donate money to our colleges and Universities or the Arabs who got the FBI to eliminate references to Arab terrorists from the agent training manuals? Our government is controlled by our enemies.

Duty, honor, country. Nationalism is the enemy of the people who seek to change the entire world.

 

I haven't earned any of the above but do appreciate your defense of free speech. And although after reading the article I may not be fully informed about the change of the mission statement my perspective of being told "Remain calm all is well" has not changed.
