ok lets just say that one day every democrate/or republican left in their spaceship(kidding). because all i hear is ow bad the other side is, but i think that with out the other side the countrys systm would topple over as is you took all the weight of one ide of a scale. so here is a thread for all the bashers out there.lets hear some predictions about how wonderful your U.S. would be with and type of check or balance. and also would the far right(left) break away and but heads against the more central right(left)?
I'm guessing that it may look a lot like the nation "Oceania" in the book 1984. In fact, the example you gave above is a sample of what they called "double think". It's when you blank out all awareness of the falicies about you, then forget that you even used double talk in the first place. It's a lot like what the Democrats would like to do now, and that is control every aspect of life, and thought. From birth to death.
hahah so i begins again. ok new plan: second battle of gettysburg. i dont care which side wants to be blue and who wants tp be grey. instead of guns and cannons we will use (way to much) beer and fists. and the winner will have control over the country. one day of fighting for a life time of we won so shut the heck up.
You can't have ying without yang, black without white, good without evil. Each feeds off of the other. It wasn't like that years ago between Dems and Reps...but nowadays, NO mattter what Bush or the Republicans propose (i.e., School choice, social security choice, the fight against islamic terrorism), the democrats will be totally against everything because they are republicans. Throw words like "far-right, extreme, radical" in front of the word republican and that is pretty much the Dems talking points. Matter of fact, that is pretty much their platform... anti-Republican. yes its your ying but maybe the democrates are taking one path an the republicans are countering. and to test your point write your congressman and get him to pass gay marriage an see if the dem go back to againts it. just like putting bleeding heart in front of libeal.
It reminds me of that old joke... Q: If you dropped a hard-core Republican and a hard-core Democrat in the middle of the ocean, who could tread water the longest before drowning? A: I don't know, but it's worth finding out. I've become increasingly economically conservative but against any restraint on individual liberties, so I guess I'm becoming more libertarian. I see plenty on both sides I'd like to send to the Moon. What would be left would be people who'd have low-key discussions and debates based on hard evidence, and who could admit when they are wrong, and acknowledge their own ignorance.
I think we'd be all happier if we just admitted to ourselves that we were all independants. I'm not sure if I'm upset more at what my party has become (Democrats) or what the other has become (Republicans). So now I claim the fence seat. In 2008, I have zero interest in Hillary, I have zero interest in Obama (have you ever seen anyone able to smile that wide.. is his face connected?), I can't think of anyone that would run that I would have interest in (ok.. maybe Gore, but he will never run again) On the Republican side, again I have zero interest.. no Jeb Bush, no Frank Bush Jr., no Milton Bush III.. etc. Face it.. the president's job is to maintain a charismatic face, and the rest is directed by the democratic and republican national parties. .. orignal question is what would the U.S. look like if the democrats all went to Canada and the republicans declared Arizona, New Mexico and Florida and independant nation? umm.. well our crime rate would be 89%, and the military would have to take over, so i'm not so sure my days in the bunker would be pleasant or happy.
what would happen if we closed the borders(really control who leaves and enters) for the next 30 years and fixed all of our own problems(energey,social programs,employment,healthcare) we would no longer be a world power because our involvement would be limited. and all of our funds would circulate back into the country instead of other counties.
