Let me ask you: which is better - vanilla ice cream or cherry pie? Either question is as meaningful as the other. Each book (or dessert) has a purpose, and fulfills that purpose better than the other one does. The Blue Book calls itself the "#1 Bestsellilng Annual Guide to Dealer Buying Prices", and the Red Book calls itself the "#1 Bestselling Price Guide". In today's rapidly changing coin markets, both are totally outdated by the time they are published, even if (and it's a big IF) they are accurate when they go to the printer. Nevertheless, they do generally reflect the relative value of different dates and grades, and can highlight which coins are the high value ones. The 2003 Blue Book had 222 pages, to the same year Red Book's 350. Guess which one has far more detailed information about coin collecting in general and specifics about various series, including more and better pictures?
