So in your world the jack boots need to march in and start mixing it up on reports of illegal or disruptive activity? What's putting your health and safety at risk is the crap that Corporate America pumps into the air, the water, and the garbage that they expect us to buy and consume.
So start your own farm and raise your own food. That way you won't add to "the crap that Corporate America pumps into the air, the water, and the garbage". BTW, you might also learn just what Corporate America can and cannot pump into the air, the water, and the garbage. You might just be surprised - pleasantly or unpleasantly depending on you perspective at the moment.
Oh that's a good idea. The solution to corporate abuses is just to do it yourself and that solves everything. So explain to me how I create my own air. And it's also instructive that you seem to feel that if i think I'm okay that should be all that matters to me and I should be of the opinion that the rest of my fellow human beings are on their own. Which is essentially the Republican view I suppose.
Believe me, if you start your own farm, you might just think it would be easier to create your own air than try to meet some of their requirements. That was my main point.
You are free to look at it that way if you wish but the police (jack boots, really?) should be concerned as much with their own safety as the they are the safety of others...citizens & protestors alike. If you are in denial that many of these protests have devolved into nothing more than gangs I would like to suggest you go the Drudge. He has linked to multiple local papers who have reported numerous accounts of violence & theft.
Yeah, these Iraq war veterans need to be taught a lesson in civility. An Iraq war veteran has a fractured skull and brain swelling after allegedly being hit by a police projectile. Scott Olsen is in a "critical condition" in Highland hospital in Oakland, a hospital spokesman confirmed. Olsen, 24, suffered the head injury during protests in Oakland on Tuesday evening. More than 15 people were arrested after a crowd gathered to demonstrate against the police operation to clear two Occupy Oakland camps in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
You can join the military and be sent off to war because you feel it's a way to defend our freedoms and that's fine. Just don't come back home and expect to enjoy the exercise of those freedoms.
You RWers make it so easy to take the high ground. This might not be as much of a challenge for me as I thought it would be.
The article you quoted states that Olsen was "allegedly hit by a police projectile". There is no proof of that, in fact, Joshua Shepherd, 27, a Navy veteran who was standing nearby when Olsen got struck, said he didn't know what hit (Olsen). Read more: http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-10-27/news/30327533_1_protesters-war-zone-roommate#ixzz1cCemW6lrWhy would you say that Iraq war veterans "need to be taught a lesson in civility"? You don't even know the facts of this incident.
Not at all. These protesters are disorganized, rag-tag groups who, for at least some part, don't even know what they're protesting, much less what to call themselves. Occupy Wall Street? Occupy Disneyland? There is no leadership in their ranks nor organization. Until they get it together, The Flea Party will have to do.
I have no issues with the protestors setting up camp on public land as long as they are peaceful, not a public health or safety hazard and aren't infringing upon others' rights. But if we are going to have a big powerful government to solve our problems, we shouldn't be too shocked when we get big powerful enforcement to go along with it. As far as Flea Party...I think it is as childish as Tea Bagger but I have grown used to both and just ignore it. Just like Dims and Cons and all the rest of the name calling.
There was an Occupy Movement at one time but it was usurped by what you see now. "Flea Bagger" is necessary to distinguish between the 2 groups
I remember your discounting them dismissing them before and then having to readjust in the face of reality. I have no idea where this will lead, and I think that might be what is disconcerting the corporatist right. Who's the leader? What are their positions? How can we attack them other than trying to physically make them go away?
I said it before and I say it again, the main thrust that is driving the Tea Party is also driving the Occupy Movement. From what I see the only difference may be is that one has older people in it and the other younger and one may be more fed up republicans and the other more fed up democrats with independents going to either or when it suits them. There are alot of people who think that both parties stopped representing the people and being for the people and just sold out the people. Not that this is new, this is one of the reasons why the labor movement grew for no one else stood up for the working man. There was a time when the National Guard shot down women and children in the streets of mining towns.
Also to the politicians and not just on the Republican side. If the Democrats can't co-opt them and find a way to control them and use them, the Democrats could be in trouble too. The status quo is making them rich too. And without a central leadership, real or imposed, it will be difficult to assimilate the movement and shape their positions to fit the Party's needs.
Really? Video footage posted to YouTube shows Olsen lying motionless in front of a police line after apparently having been hit. A group of up to 10 protesters gather around him, but a police officer can be seen throwing a device close to the group which then explodes with a bright flash and loud bang, scattering the protesters. The video then cuts to footage of protesters carrying Olsen away as he bleeds from the head
I agree. I'm certainly not letting the Democrats skate here. Vast amounts of their money come from the same source as that of the Republicans. They're all owned. Corporations don't spend the bucks they've been spending without getting what they want in return. Democrat vs Republican? Who cares? They have the same masters. It's now us vs them and the less we play by their rules the better our chances.
Yes, really. Your video shows nothing more than a bunch of protesters around a cloud of smoke and an injured person. You say he had been "apparently" hit. One can obviously assume that he was struck by something, but who knows what it was? Witnesses at the scene didn't even know. I don't see the police officer you mention. I see several light flashes against the people in the video, but if you know anything about "flash/bang" devices, these can be set off quite a distance from the target and still provide the intended disorientation effect. The police officer does not have to "be close to the group". Until you can provide any evidence, I would suggest not jumping to conclusions.
