Okay, how about this.....BO vs Newt in an unscripted, teleprompter-free Q&A? If BO had the nerve to partake I can picture it ending with BO in the fetal position, mumbling Bush's name.
I'd be interested in the debate, in the differences between their ideologies. Both parties would score their points and claim victory afterwards though, so I'd take the debate for what it is... a chance to verbally mock your opponent without any physical repercussions. -talk basically. I'd rather they add some physical component to the debates... they could start with arm-wrestling, maybe move on to boxing, MMA-style matches if the old foggies can handle it. I doubt Newt would go for that, but he's cowardly that way.
Wow! Did you really just say that?!?!!? That is, perhaps, the most sexist thing I've ever heard anyone on this forum say. I'm quite shocked, IQLess. Seriously.
I bet $50 with someone that you would take offense with that remark. I won. Also of note: I bet another $50 you'd cut my comment down to just the part you found most offensive. I won again. Thanks for the cash! I knew you had it in you!
Come on now, IQLess, let's be fair. After all, you DID say it, right? Of course, I'm going to cut your comment down. It deserves no less.
I think the expression "-talk" can be taken many ways. You have simply set your mind on seeing it in the darkest possible context. I happen to think that the few women in this forum communicate at a far higher level than the usual snarky "-talk" that passes for debate around here. Oh, did I just say "-talk"? Time for more Okie false indignation. Give it a rest.
If you go back all the way to the remark in question, the only thing I have approved of vehemently was QI's response to you. You consider it a sexist remark and I don't. I've explained why. If that isn't good enough for ya....
For the record, since I'm not female, I wasn't personally offended by his sexist remark or your subsequent support of it. I was certainly surprised that he would say such a thing knowing full well that it could and probably did offend females on this forum. But, I'm not surprised at your feeble attempt at a defense. Such behavior is what I've come to expect.
You have it so twisted up you can't even tell which post you responded to, who that was responding to, or who IQless1 was talking to to begin with. If you go back and look, you might be surprised to find it was David, not CoinOKC.
You can take a lot of things many ways but the poster provided his definition in the post. -talk: 1. to verbally mock your opponent without any physical repercussions Example: so I'd take the debate for what it is... a chance to verbally mock your opponent without any physical repercussions. -talk basically. Fun fact of the day: Women talk 3x more than men.
You're not personally offended but you ARE quite shocked? Thank goodness that "the women" in this forum have you to protect them. How you actually know that they would be offended, I can't figure. Again, IQ responded to you with a funny put-down and I approved of his response. Your feeble attempt to first paint his comment as dark as possible is just another example of you reaching for the convenient interpretation and then trying to pain me with your odd perspective. Seriously, you and the other stooges have really got to get out of the house more often. Silly arguments like this one prove it. BTW if it is so offensive, wouldn't the mods have deleted it by now? Uh-ha! So much for your argument.
Not necessarily. You post things in this forum that are equally offensive, but are allowed to remain. We can have a discussion about, for instance sexism, without injecting sexist remarks. I consider what IQLess said as sexist while you, somehow, do not. But, is it offensive? I think it would be up to women to decide, but I'll leave it up to them.
FWIW, if I was a mod (and I have been one a few times ), I would have deleted the comment. Not because any women here need protecting, least of all by me, but because I believe it was inappropriate, quite possibly offensive, and not pertinent to the point the poster was trying to convey. That doesn't mean he is a bad person, it just means I don't think that comment was appropriate. Therefore, I would not feel any need to let the comment stay. Even if the person who posted it had the same political beliefs as myself, I would not feel any need to defend, feign approval, or make excuses for it. Of course, if I was a mod, lots of stuff would be deleted. lol
Ahhh, but you are enjoying pointing that out correct? It's given you pleasure? Please say "correct"... I have a lot of cash on the line here...
Cool women are laughing right now at the idea... and some are punching their husbands, or boyfriends, or girlfriends... for laughing too. But those are the cool ones. Others will take offense... and that offends me.
