I should mention, the guy the cops killed was a Marine vet who served two tours in Iraq. They killed him in front of his wife and baby.

I wonder if this is in any way related to Sheriff Dupnik?

Having an assault rifle in the house didn't seem to do this guy any good at all even though he was trained to use it and having it pretty much got him killed. The self-defense argument once again proves to be a bunch of crap. Whether this guy was guilty or innocent of what the police thought he did, the fact is that he is dead because he raised a rifle at a vastly superior armed force. An assault rifle and he is still dead.

That is just sick and wrong. NO one should have to see that.

I'm hesitant to rush to judgment. I wasn't there. But, IF he pointed his assault weapon at them, SWAT teams are trained to act quickly and decisively.

The SWAT team had no business busting into this guys house in the first place. The stories about whether the police identified themselves and whether the victim was pointing the gun or not and what words were exchanged, that's all inconsistant. What nobody is contending, though, is that no illegal activities were uncovered at the residence and it appears to be a case of the police busting down the wrong door.

From the article: ("Tucson is notorious for home invasions and we didn't want to look like that," said Lt. Michael O'Connor of the Pima County Sheriff's Department.) But that sounds like an awfully suspicious statement, can't say if they did or didn't. Even if the guy never fired a shot the SWAT team would have shot right away. Sounds to me like they know they (deleted)-up and are in full spin.

In my area there's a team called UPSET, who raid homes for narcotics. One raid they burst into a home and beat the (deleted) out of the husband and wife, with kids present. "Wrong house. Sorry about that. Don't do drugs!" ...it happens. Again, it sounds to me like the Pima County Sheriff's Department knows they messed-up. The guy was killed by the police while trying to protect his family. Fubar.

The guy was pretty stupid to aim a weapon at the cops. They heard a knock. Ok say who's' there. Say I'm going to the window to verify. You see cop cars and a half of a dozen combat cops. You open the door. Whats so hard about that?

Well there's a switch. Hard right winger from the strictly black and white populous, not rushing to judgement. LOL

The only ones who said he aimed the weapon at the cops are the cops who shot the guy. First they were saying he shot too, now they're saying the guy just aimed at them. When the police are interrogating a suspect who changes their story like that, they simply dismiss anything he says as a lie. Why should we accept anything the police are saying about the case as the truth? The only established facts of the case are that the police entered his house for no reason and killed him.

Well they had a search warrant. That's a reason. They said they knocked. And his wife concurred. It was 9am. Not 2am. It's not clear if he opened the door or asked who it was. Or even if the cops broke the door in. Is that how you would react if you heard a knock at the for door at 9am?

It is remarkable that everytime you hear about a shooting in Chicago, whether the guys running away, sitting in a car, doing his laundry, and gets shot by the cops, he always, always points a gun at the cops before he gets shot. They never say he fired at them but they always manage to draw their weapons and fire before the guy with the gun already out has a chance to drop his gun or surrender or fire his weapon. Go figure.

You know what else is amazing? The incidents where the guy drops his gun or gives up, doesn't make the evening news. Those stories arent news worthy so they aren't reported.

Well, Craig, my house was robbed at 12:30 PM. Luckily, (and I'm not saying who was the lucky one) I was out to lunch at the time. If someone was knocking on my door at 9:00 AM, I would be much more likely to think it's a robber than a cop. In fact, when I was talking to the police about the robbery at my house, they told me that the MO that the robbers use is to knock on the front door to see if anyone is home, and if nobody's home, they go around back and break in. I've never had the police knock on my door, and the only time they've set foot on my property is when I've phoned them up and asked them to come over.

Last time I checked, law enforcement officers are union employees, therefore by definition, Democrats.

I guess I should be thankful that the ACPD SWAT team extricated the armed robber from the hotel this morning without killing anyone. They did however completely shut down the valet/door operation of the hotel when every single on duty officer showed up and parked their squad cars in the porte cochere. Note to self, if you want to rob an Atlantic city casino, it is easy to distract the police with a diversion.
