...expanding on post #60: I'd say I have issues with corporations too, but believe thay are also necessary.
But here's the rub....a business only exists to make a profit. Like it or not, that's the deal. Business owners make the investment, take the risk and run their business for one reason- to make money. (Moral and ethical implications are a different story). Workers are expected to do what management tells them to do. They receive wages for doing their job. If they aren't satisfied with their job or their wages they are free to move on & find themselves a better deal.
I'd have to disagree somewhat. While profit is important, it's not the only reason a business exists. To a certain point, yes. There are limits that management/owners cannot pass legally. The point is that business owners want as much profit as they can get, and so do the workers. In a healthy system, both can be satisfied. In the current system both sides are being too greedy, they are fighting against each other instead of working together. That's unhealthy for profit.
Profit is what drives & sustains any business.....then that trickle down thing comes into play...our jobs are more stable, there's a better chance for higher wages, etc.
Are your chances of getting a job & higher pay better when "business" is healthy or when it is unhealthy?
